Meet DJ Teo | Global DJ, Music Supervisor, Executive Producer, Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Teo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
My business and career journey have proven that leading with genuine intent has led me to amazing opportunities. I have always been a strong advocate for collaborating with individuals and entities who resonate with where I am in my career. Emphasizing longevity and strategizing around investments that yield returns over time have been key principles guiding my path. The overall lesson that DJing and entrepreneurship has taught me has been the power of alignment. Things, goals, accomplishments will take place when the time is right. What I’ve also realized whatever energy I dedicate into myself and my business will essentially be the reflection of the outcome that occurs. As long as I’m giving my all on a daily basis, essentially opportunities have began to come to me effortlessly.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In an industry where the pressure to elevate a brand or career can be overwhelming, it is crucial for me to take a moment to appreciate my current circumstances. The fact that my entire personal life and career are supported by my main source of income is a blessing in itself. Often, I find myself comparing my progress to others at different stages and longing for the same level of success. However, I am aware that there may be someone looking at me with the same admiration for where I am. Therefore, I strive to lead by example, demonstrating that patience and a relentless work ethic in completing tasks can guide one towards a path of success. Though I still have moments of uncertainty about my chosen career, when I reflect on the fact that I am living out my dreams, it brings a sense of relief. I will continue to shine a positive light on my roots and the values I embody.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If friends or visitors come to town, I would gladly share some of my favorite spots in LA that I discovered when I was exploring the city. The Silver Lake area is home to some of the best restaurants in LA that I highly recommend. Little Tokyo is a must-visit for delicious food and shopping. When it comes to shopping, Glendale is a great area to explore in LA. Despite not being a fan of LA sports teams, I always suggest catching a game because the energy is unbeatable. For breathtaking views, I always suggest visiting a rooftop bar in Downtown or Hollywood to experience the vibrant atmosphere. Finally, Elysian Park near Dodger Stadium offers a stunning view of the cityscape where you can relax and admire downtown LA from afar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many people have played a significant role in shaping me both as a DJ and as a person. Among them, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family. It may sound cliché, but my family has consistently stood by me in every passionate pursuit I’ve undertaken. I am truly thankful for the unwavering support of both my immediate and extended family, scattered across various regions of the country. It is safe to express, if it wasn’t for my family and close circle, I would not of been at the stage of my career I’m currently at.
