We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Urzua and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joel, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because, at a pivotal moment in my life, I realized it was my true purpose and calling. This decision wasn’t easy, as it takes time to truly know oneself and identify one’s talents. I discovered I had exceptional skills in areas such as voice, creativity, imagination, communication, and emotions, among others.
What profoundly impacts me about the arts is the ability to convey powerful messages through various forms of expression, such as music, poetry, public speaking, painting, and dance. From a young age, I found my passion and developed a keen interest in all types of performances.
Eventually, I reached a point where I had to give myself the chance to pursue a profession that encompassed these important elements. I chose an artistic career because it brings me happiness and gives me reasons to keep creating art in our world. This decision was made with the understanding that I will always be connected to a creative path that nurtures my spirit and allows me to express my emotions and thoughts uniquely.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This si literally a journey fueled by passion: from political science to a creator who is constantly growing and developing
I was born in Los Angeles, CA, and raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico. I am a proud Mexican American passionate about helping people and the performing arts. Although I have a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a paralegal certification, I have always involved myself in opportunities related to public speaking and performances. Discovering my top talents and abilities has been an amazing journey, and I look forward to continuing to be a voice for people and transmitting positive messages through the arts.
From a young age, I have been captivated by the world of performing arts and communication. I participated in poetry, theater, choir, public speaking, and mock trial. This early passion has fostered a deep respect and love for the performing arts that has only grown stronger over the years. Also, those experiences have shaped my life and profession today and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
After completing my bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Cal Poly Pomona, I found myself at a crossroads. While my academic journey was fulfilling, I felt a persistent calling to explore the artistic side that had always been a significant part of me. This inner desire led me to make a life-changing decision: to move to Hollywood and pursue a artistic/creative career.
Hollywood became the perfect place for me to dive into the performing arts. The transition was challenging yet exhilarating, as it required stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the uncertainties of a new career path. However, the drive to follow my passion for performing arts made every step worthwhile.
In Hollywood, I immersed myself in various acting classes and workshops, learning from some of the best in the industry. These experiences not only honed my craft but also reinforced my belief in the power of storytelling and the profound impact it can have on audiences. Whether it’s through acting, presenting, or engaging with people, I discovered that the performing arts offer a unique platform to connect with others on a deeply emotional level.
This journey has taught me the importance of perseverance, dedication, and the courage to pursue one’s dreams. It has been incredibly rewarding to see how my passion for the performing arts has allowed me to touch lives and inspire others. Each performance, each interaction, is an opportunity to create something meaningful and lasting.
Looking back, I am grateful for the decision to follow my heart and embrace my passion for the performing arts. It has been a journey of self-discovery and growth, and I am excited to continue exploring new creative horizons. To anyone out there with a dream, I encourage you to take that leap of faith. Your passion can lead you to incredible places and open doors you never imagined.
Thank you, Shoutout LA, for giving me the platform to share my story. Here’s to the artists, the dreamers, and the creators who make the world a more vibrant and inspiring place.
