Meet Sindy Solis | Makeup artist & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sindy Solis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sindy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up I was never what you call an academic child. When everyone was focused on making sure they completed that school work, I was just waiting for my art class, music class, sewing class to start. Creating is something that I just had in me since a very young age. It was no surprise that once I got to join my father in his photography gigs or was able to start applying makeup on my friends for school dances that I knew I just loved being artistic and creative.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Whether it’s doing makeup or photography, I love the artistic process that goes with each person and or family. Not anyone person is the same and that’s the beauty of it. My goal for anyone that leaves my makeup chair is that they leave feeling confident and yet still feel like themselves which is why I specialize in a clean and fresh makeup looks. For my photography, I specialize in more of a lifestyle natural light photographer. My main goal is to have fun, if I can get a dad laughing and kids playing in our session, mission is accomplished. Photography sessions are not meant to be dreadful it’s meant to capture the essence of each family. Getting to where my business is at today was not easy by far, it involved a lot of tears, delays, resets, fails, but everything that i’ve gone through has always been a growing experience. Being a mom entrepreneur also has many challenges which is also a what is not really talked about in the industry. Time management is crucial, when you have others that depend on you and at the same time trying to grow your business. I want to say to the mommy entrepreneurs give yourself grace, theirs days you slow down to be present for your kids, and other days you go one hundred on the business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first of take them to my favorite local coffee shop known for the best honey oat lattes and strawberry matcha’s Civitas in La Mirada. We’d then venture out to old town orange for some thrifting and antique shops browsing, Packing district for their variety of food options, from Indian food, to southern cooking or dumplings, all in one spot. They usually have live music in the evening at Anaheim packing house so it’s a fun place to visit, and that would just be day one haha.
The days to come we’d definetly make our way towards malibu, make reservations for the Getty museum free to visit, and have lunch at Cafe 21 in Topanga Canyon, think of eating lunch in a large tree house with beautiful views of the canyon. We’d do the OCMA museum in Costa Mesa, and visit the new Mercado Northgate for lunch Mexican dishes, seafood and amazing churros. More museums the Broad in DTLA, Halo food court on grand for Danny boys Famous original pizza, and the arts district. Other coffee shops I’d take them to Classic Cafe in Fullerton, is a coffee shop in a historic home with beautiful vintage decor and peaceful outside courtyard and for some great boba i’d take them to Bobuzz Boba in Lakewood. There is so much more I can share on here but I’d run out of space. Maybe for another interview haha.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to thank my father who taught me all I know when it comes to photography. He is the best father and mentor I could have asked for. Also thank my husband for pushing me to grow more challenge myself more, for believing in me, even when I couldn’t do that for myself. Most importantly and first God, for getting me through the meltdowns, anxiety attacks, and self worth. He is my steadfast. I wouldn’t get through the hard time without God.
