Meet Victoria Johnson | Writer, Speaker & Storyteller, Guided Writer Curator, Writing Strategist and Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, why did you pursue a creative career?
It may sound strange, I have found that I have not needed to pursue what is and has already been a major part of who I am and what I am called to do. Instead, I needed to learn how to step into it boldly. I can tell you what made me decide on that. Honestly, divorce. I never wanted that to be such an integral part of my story, however throughout that season I learned a new level of healing and restoration that I had not been introduced to prior to that season. I knew how to regulate my emotions but I needed new ways to express them. My therapist at that time encouraged me to get back to writing. She knew it was my first language. I despised it. I felt as if I would regret what words would spill on the page. Through that long process I started to find solace in the truth behind my words again. Writing was once again, a tool that guided me into healing deeply and as openly as I needed to. Writing has always found its way back to me no matter the season, space, reason, or need. It has needed me as much as I have needed it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe you could say that my art lies in the realm of writing, storytelling, and the wellness of words. I believe in restorative & creative tools to help us heal. It is the calm. These elements are not just tools but the very heart and soul of what I do. I believe in the power of narratives to resonate deeply with readers, to heal, encourage, inspire, and uplift. My journey encompasses a wide array of roles—running my business as a Writing Coach, Strategist, Guided Writer, Event Curator, and Speaker. I have been blessed to speak on stages but also serve behind closed doors deeply. From Japan to America, God has allowed me to use words and community spaces to help heal the hidden spaces. This multifaceted approach allows me to immerse myself fully in the world of writing and in building healed communities.
As simplistic as it may appear to sound, I would say my unwavering commitment and compassion to helping others become more acquainted with their voices and embrace their stories fully. I don’t just guide them along their publishing paths; I empower them to own their narratives and silence the doubts that hold them back. My reach is global, with mentoring sessions and speaking engagements that have touched lives across continents. I am dedicated to creating and executing guided writing experiences around the world, inspiring countless souls to unlock the healing potential of their words. Most importantly, I trust God’s direction on caring for His people. I never want to speak, write, or influence without his direction.
I am most proud of the transformative impact my work has on others. Every word I choose is carefully selected to nourish the soul and spark change. The guided writing experiences I create are designed to foster personal growth and transformation. Witnessing the healing and empowerment of individuals through their own narratives is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I am excited about the continuous opportunities to inspire and mentor writers globally, helping them unlock their potential and embrace their true selves. My biological father died with so many dreams in draft mode. I am proud that through divorce, grief, major loss, parental death, and it all, that I have finally decided to keep living.
My professional journey has been marked by dedication, passion, and resilience. It wasn’t and has not been easy by any means. Quite the opposite. Like any path worth taking, it came with its share of challenges. Overcoming these obstacles required a deep belief in the power of words and their ability to transform lives. It required not just simple prayers, but dedication to change. Circumstances & people may be the cause of our pain but sometimes we are the reason why we stay in it. I stayed committed to my vision, continuously honing my craft, and embracing every opportunity to grow and learn. The support of a community that believes in the healing potential of writing was also instrumental in navigating the tough times. The support of the community that believes in me reminds me to keep going.
Know that taking ownership heals you, community supports you, Authenticity releases you, and your perseverance will always pay off. Stay the course.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am actually rather new to the city so we would be exploring together ( lol). However a perfect time would be:
– Breakfast on the patio
– A long walk in nature
– Midday coffee ( Lavender has to be involved for me, or mocha! )
– take a trolly ride ( I mean, how cute)
– The Orpheum Theather for a GOOD show
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this interview to my Daddy ( Grandpa). The book is coming. Until you see that in print, I will write the words and speak them wherver God leads me to. kKnow that you have inspired me to keep believing and dreaming. 143, always!
