Hi Shelly & George, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Hello everyone, Shelly and George here, founders of YUKIMI. It’s our absolute pleasure to meet you all, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to share our story.

Our journey began with our two white Pomeranians, Yuki & Yumi, who are not only our furry babies but also the inspiration behind YUKIMI. The idea for the brand emerged while searching for a hypoallergenic and effective shampoo that could maintain the health of their fur and coat, especially since Yumi suffers from severe skin allergies and reacts to many common ingredients in cleansing products. Finding the perfect product that suited both of them was a significant challenge.

During our research, we also noticed a concerning lack of regulation in the pet industry, such as inadequate or misleading labeling on products. This realization spurred us to create YUKIMI. Our core mission is to provide premium quality, transparent, and science-backed products to our fellow paw parents and their furry friends. We’re dedicated to ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of safety and effectiveness, bringing peace of mind to pet owners worldwide.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles is a vibrant and multicultural region that I adore showing off to visiting friends. We’d start our day with brunch at a cozy café where we can enjoy the sunshine with our pups — a perfect beginning to any day. Next, an art tour strolling through local museums and galleries is fantastic for inspiring conversation and creativity.

The afternoons would be reserved for the great outdoors. Southern California’s myriad hiking trails offer not just exercise but also panoramic views that are nothing short of breathtaking. And a trip wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the iconic beaches. I particularly love taking friends to Laguna Beach for its stunning sunsets — imagine the sky painted with vibrant oranges and pinks as the waves lap gently at the shore, a truly unforgettable scene. It’s an ideal spot for both chilling with our pups and having a memorable time with friends.

Throughout the week, we’d end each day with a culinary adventure, sampling the diverse array of cuisines that make Southern California a food lover’s paradise. From upscale dining experiences to casual local hidden gems, we’d savor flavors from around the world.
