We had the good fortune of connecting with Clara Kaluderovic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clara, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Technically, I am from New Jersey, but I can’t really claim it as my home. Growing up, my family moved around so much that no state felt like home until we sort of settled down in Texas. But even then, we were always on the move, traveling for fun and exploring new places. My mom’s side of the family is Ukrainian, and that has been another huge influence on me. Most summers, I would spend in Kyiv with my grandparents, or my grandmother would come to the States to spend time with me. The close-knittedness of Ukrainian families taught me to value and foster strong family bonds. This constant movement and exposure to different cultures, languages, religions, and foods instilled in me a gypsy spirit from my parents that has profoundly influenced my life path. This open-mindedness nurtured by my upbringing has led me on many incredible adventures and is a significant element of my work today, especially in my focus on international markets and community growth abroad.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am excited to see my company expand to our goal of 22 countries in the next 3 years, bringing training, jobs, and tech opportunities globally. I am incredibly proud of my team’s commitment to ethical AI and our thoughtful approach to supporting communities we will enter around the world. We have a sort of internal ethics manifesto that our team, investors, and contractors all sign. Unfortunately, in our industry of data annotation, there is a huge lack of transparency and a tendency for companies not to take care of their international employees the same way they would with US hires. We want to set new standards of ethics within the tech industry and remind others that you can do well while doing good.

Tech is often viewed through a lens of aggressive growth and profit maximization, where companies are celebrated for how much they dominate rather than how much they contribute positively. This culture can lead to exploitation, especially of workers in developing countries who are crucial to the tech supply chain. Our goal at ex2 is to challenge this norm by embedding strong ethical values into our business model. We believe in creating a work environment where everyone, regardless of geographic location, is treated with respect and fairness.

Getting to where we are today has not been easy. One of the biggest challenges has been ensuring that our ethical standards are maintained across all operations, especially in countries with different labor laws and cultural norms. We’ve overcome these challenges by establishing clear, consistent policies and engaging directly with local communities and governments to ensure our practices are both effective and respectful.

Through this journey, I’ve learned the importance of maintaining integrity and not compromising on core values, even when it seems easier to do so. I’ve also learned that transparency and open communication are key to building trust with both our employees and our partners.

What I want the world to know about ex2 is that we are committed to creating technology solutions that not only drive innovation but also foster social good. We aim to bring awareness to the often overlooked “ghost workers” who power many of the AI services we rely on daily. By setting higher standards for worker treatment and emphasizing the human impact of our work, we hope to inspire other companies to adopt similar practices and create a more equitable tech industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a Houston girl at heart, so to all LA readers, a Texas trip is well worth it! Houston is a great city for hidden gem dining spots. Some of my favorites lately are: Duck n Bao, Bloom & Bee at the Post Oak Hotel, Lombardi Cucina Italiana (and its hidden speakeasy Segretto). For a group of friends visiting, Emilia’s Havana is another amazing speakeasy with an endless rum fountain, a live Cuban band, and phenomenal cocktails. In the fall, walking along the Bayou or through downtown Houston is fun, but in the summer, the only place you really want to walk through is the Galleria, which has some great shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m thrilled to dedicate this shoutout to two incredible women with whom I collaborate at my company, ex2: Nisaa Jetha and Chelsea Toler. Chelsea, the Chief Impact Officer at Logictry, and I met at a family office conference where we immediately sensed a powerful synergy. It was Chelsea who introduced me to Nisaa, a passionate advocate for sustainability and a champion for young women. These remarkable women, whom I am now proud to call friends, truly embody the saying, “If you want to go quickly, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” Together, our mission is to leverage AI to create meaningful jobs, power technologies sustainably, measure our impact transparently, and help build stronger, better communities.
