We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayde Jonathan Glover and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayde Jonathan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.

1. **How do you think about risk?*

Life is an uncertain thing, I believe my perspective stems from the desire to truly live. On one had I could have a safe and predictable life, on the other I could have a uncertain life full of surprise and adventure. I hoped to have a healthy combination of both worlds and I feel I have achieved that through my perspective of not listening to others tell me it would be impossible. I have always believed in not succumbing to a fear based lifestyle ruled by the opinions of other but rather pursuing in the things that make me feel alive no matter the uncertainty.

2. **What role has taking risks played in your life/career?*
– Taking risks has been pivotal in propelling my career forward by opening new opportunities. As both a Design and Build Contractor & a Professional DJ. Trying to find a balance between these 2 worlds seems like an impossibility. However strange, I find they balance me out perfectly as the stressful nature of building and dealing with immense liability gets forgotten when your on the stage in front of thousands of people. I risk sleep every night so that I may find moments of peace in my life and it has cased me to live in a very stressful environment relatively stress free. If you desire to experience something, there is always a price to be paid. If it’s worth it to you, you will pay that price.

to summarize my personal feeling towards risk is Take the time to take the Risk, or Risk never taking the time at all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I wear two hats in my professional life: as a General Contractor and a Professional Touring DJ. As the owner of Ardor Design & Build, we specialize in ground-up construction and extensive renovations for residential and commercial properties. It’s a demanding industry with significant liability, but thanks to my outstanding partners Albert Valdez and Zeke Evers, managing the business has become much smoother. Together, we’ve successfully completed impressive restaurant projects for Fat Sal’s Deli, ranging from their iconic Venice Pier location to their new corporate headquarters in Los Angeles.

On the DJ front, I’m recognized as “Kieffer Smutherland,” with residencies at top Hollywood clubs like Bootsy Bellows and Hyde, and regular performances at renowned venues such as The Highlight Room and Poppy’s. I collaborate closely with restaurant groups like the Vanderpump Group, hosting the popular “Smutherland” event every Friday at Tom Tom alongside Tom Schwartz. This event is a favorite among bachelor/bachelorette parties and fans of Vanderpump Rules who travel globally to experience the venue. Additionally, I have a weekly residency at “The Hideaway” in Pacific Beach, San Diego, owned by a group known for their staple bars from Hermosa Pier down to San Diego.

My schedule is incredibly demanding. From 6 AM to 5 PM, I oversee operations at various job sites, navigate building regulations, and collaborate with architects and engineers. Then, from 10 PM to 2 AM, I’m behind the DJ booth, thrilling audiences night after night. It’s a non-stop cycle, but I thrive on the energy and challenges of both worlds.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start by taking them to Fat Sal’s on the Venice Pier, showcasing the amazing restaurant we built while enjoying some fantastic food. Next, we’d head to one of the restaurant groups I collaborate with for drinks and laughs with familiar faces. Then, it’s off to either Bootsy Bellows or The Highlight Room for my DJ set, wherever I’m booked for the night. The club always sets us up with a VIP table behind the DJ booth, where we mingle with promoters and meet new friends while we wait for our bottles to arrive. It’s a night of raging, laughter, and keeping the club jumping.

On Saturday, after overseeing another job site during the day, like the new build we have in Santa Monica with realy beautiful finishes, simply amazing architecture, and then we would likely visit another bar like Tom Tom in West Hollywood or Tower 12 for a beachside vibe, followed by another DJ set at a different club.

Sunday starts with a brunch party I DJ at called “No Jealously” at Hyde nightclub, before we hit the road to San Diego for my show at “The Hideaway.” It’s a packed weekend, no doubt!
