We had the good fortune of connecting with CAEV and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CAEV, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking has pretty much defined my life since the day I decided to drop out of college and pursue my own truths.

In my humble opinion: there is no real progress without risk. A step forward can sometimes (if not often) be a step into the unknown. Your faith quotient must be greater than your fear of risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I go by the name of CAEV (CAVE). I am a mixed media artists with music and design being the flagship medium of the CAEV brand.

I started my art career most young inner city kids do: graffiti. I used to sneak out the house at 3am to paint my little section of the town. They wouldn’t last long; for Boston isn’t a city that celebrates true individualism but it was enough for me to see that Art can have an effect on the world…even if it’s just getting a city worker off his ass to do his job! What started as a spark has no grew into a flame.

I use that flame to make music, direct videos, produce, design and make clothes from scratch, paint (not available for sales), amongst many other mediums of expression.

If there was one thing about the CAEV brand that I would want you to know is that failure is only failure if you stop. Keep going!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since the airport is right near Inglewood I would definitely say we’d have to stop for tacos and ceviche at Lafawndas! I love their food and the prices are a match made in heaven for the customer considering how good the food is.

If it’s a Sunday during the NFL season, maybe even catch a Rams game!

I live in Koreatown so Korean bbq and rice wine is a MUST for anyone that I’m showing around town. If they’ve never been to LA, we definitely have to hit Hollywood Blvd just so they can see how dirty it looks compared to on television lol!

We’d definitely have to hit Sequoia National Park for the ultimate outdoor vibes. Those trees are a true marvel of the world.

I know it catches a lot of flack from the scene but Apartment 22 definitely adds to a good night on a good night (if you know what I mean).

One of my favorite things to do is drive through The Hills and see the reason why almost every import moves to Los Angeles. Dreams of riches, notoriety, and fame ( I don’t know if I particularly care for the fame part however).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God. God has definitely been a guiding light for me in this journey of self discovery and truth through art. My faith in God has kept a roof over my head when money couldn’t, food in my belly when my pockets were empty. Man, I can’t thank God enough tbh.

My good friend, Maka Oceania based out of my hometown Boston is also a great support system for me. I swear he would make a great therapists for artists or something. I would encourage him to do if his music wasn’t so great!
