We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Neutel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

What should our readers know about your business?
What I believe sets Neutech apart is how we approach the culture and purpose of our business. We are the anti-agency agency. I like to think of Neutech as a sports team, particularly Rugby. We huddle and work together to move the ball forward all with the same purpose-driven mentality, contrary to American football–throwing and kicking the ball to different individuals who move it down the field individually. We’re all striving for the same goals–to provide world-class development, with world-class experts, who are obsessed with our clients’ success. We are always asking ourselves how best we can provide you with the most value.

Neutech hires on what we call the “Neutech Intangibles.” This is a set of criteria that can’t be taught but are rather innate qualities. This includes work ethic, values, morals, those willing to crank the midnight oil, etc. Our senior-level engineers are not only senior in technical ability but also in character.

Of course, we are a business, and at the end of the day, numbers matter; but the idea that you’re going to work, day in and day out, with your team is what contributes to our superlative performance. The way we treat each other is just as important as our P&L. Everyone has a seat at the table. If you are sitting at that table, it is because we believe you have something special to offer. We empower that gift and entrust in our team to contribute in their own unique way.

As a result, we have a 92% employee retention rate, and an average contract length of 34 months. So, I guess you can say we’re doing something right.

All that to say, this is what I believe differentiates us from the generic market players, or “agencies.” Everyone is determined to their own success, and it is my goal, and tangentially Neutech’s, to facilitate how best to achieve a client’s aspirations. I want them to succeed as much as myself, and ironically, that ethos contributes more to Neutech’s success than initially thought.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My greatest way of showing love is by taking them to the best food spots in LA. Each night, we would visit a different restaurant. I would probably start with a steak from Lucky Steakhouse in Malibu. Then, I would take them down for a fantastic fajitas plate at Don Antonio’s. Once we’re all satiated, we’ll go see a show at the Pantages Theatre. If we ever run out of things to do, there is always more food to eat!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to my failed company, Organic Genetics. Most people don’t like to advertise their failures but failing at Organic Genetics–a startup I founded in 2018 using biotech to create a personalized wellness plan based off your individualized microbiome–allowed me to succeed in every other area of my life. Every devastating failure taught me an impactful lesson. Through curiosity and an open mind, I was able to examine what went right and what went very wrong, use that information, and course correct in a major way. I firmly believe that my failure with Organic Genetics was one of the greatest opportunities of my life, and essentially instructed me through a real-life MBA program…a much more expensive one.

In hindsight, it taught me how to cultivate better relationships with business partners and customers, while contributing to each of their successes. It fostered the importance of being obsessed with creating an exceptional business model–truly understanding how revenue, cash flow, and efforts being spent intertwine with one another at an intimate level.

All that said, this is what has permitted Neutech to be the success it is today. I continue to pull lessons from every single mistake I made, regardless of how micro or macro.

To be honest, all of it kind of sucked. And a lot of it was my fault. It was humbling, and life altering. I learned more than school could have ever taught me.
