Meet XIANG MA | Chairman of education company and film director

We had the good fortune of connecting with XIANG MA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi XIANG, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The thing that interests me the most about art and creative careers is that they can keep changing. I remember when I was in Germany, I once answered a question. They asked what the most important thing in life was. I said it was hope. Well, this hope is actually a kind of pleasure brought to me by certain changes.

What should our readers know about your business?
我们的业务是一个培训高中艺术学生的机构，帮助他们进入艺术学院。在业务方面，我们优先考虑品牌，并迅速成为中国领先的公司之一。
事实上，我有一种感觉，在做教育业务时，一开始，我们赶上了中国改革的红利期。在这个股息期，我们获得了一些财富。我认为这与我们自己的努力和时代的发展密不可分。然而，最大的困难来自政策改革。这些改革给我们的艺术学生培训带来了一些问题。事实上，这些问题也使我们的业务越来越困难。

So when you ask me if it’s easy for a company to succeed, I think it still depends on the era. If it’s in an era of rapid development and a booming economy, it’s easy to make money. But when the development of the era is slowing down and the economic environment is deteriorating, no matter how hard an individual tries and no matter how much experience I have, in fact, making money is not that easy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
我住的城市叫中国杭州。它应该是中国环境最好的城市之一。它有一条河、一个湖和许多山。我们通常去西湖休闲和娱乐，在西湖后面的山上吃饭和散步。

If it’s a one-week trip, I would first suggest you stay beside West Lake. You can walk around the lake every day. Then, you can go to Longjing Road behind West Lake to buy some Longjing tea and taste the farm dishes there. Meanwhile, you can visit Alibaba, the largest Internet company in China in Hangzhou, and you can experience one of the most trendy industries in China now, which is called the TikTok live-streaming industry.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Of course, the people in this organization are constantly changing, but I think a very stable thing is that the organization itself. Its people and its members can change, but the structure of this organization will not change. I always have people who help me, I always have people who can be promoted, there are constantly new people emerging, and there are constantly talented people who can come forward. So this is the wonder and the energy of an organization.
