We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Pavlica and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Early on, before I had my own company I saw there was a need to help the domestic workforce. We needed and and still need more domestic product development and manufacturing. In my opinion, the people in the fashion industry in Los Angeles need to make a more explicit effort on pushing our domestic services, not only because you can find better quality but you also help create jobs. I felt a responsibility to educate start up brands on the great benefits of keeping their development and production domestically without necessarily incurring a huge difference in cost.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
OFC is a full package company located in Los Angeles that focuses on helping starting brands or established brands with their sourcing, development and manufacturing needs with affordable service fees and fast turnaround times. I am personally in-charge or all client relations, meaning I am the one who communicates with the client throughout the project. Even though there are more team members in the company it is important for me for my clients to know that their project will be fully managed by the owner of the company. Clients reach out to me directly whenever they need something, the fact that I am just an email away or a phone call away gives them a lot of confidence that they are working with the right partner, with someone who cares about their success.
I am mostly proud of the team I was able to built and the client portfolio that I was able to create, a lot of our clients are clients that have been with us since the beginning.
Getting to where I am was not easy, when I started OFC I didn’t have a perfectly clear idea of what I wanted OFC to be, that has been formed through out the years. I started OFC knowing what I wanted to do, but I had no idea how to get there. Someone told me one time that I needed to trust the process. That is exactly what I did, I worked very hard and I trusted the process, everything started falling into place. With a business you never stop learning and you never stop making adjustments to how the business functions, I still learn new things every day. With learning comes a lot of challenges, but I kept going, I never really gave up, no matter the obstacle or the challenge, I would take a few hours, I would remember why I started this, re-group and keep going. Consistency and hard work is the key to a successful business.
I’ve learned that nothing comes easy, that as soon as you feel like everything is smooth sailing something will happen, that you need to learn to run a successful business in challenging times and most importantly I’ve learned that if there are no challenges then the business is not successful.
I want the world to know that nothing is impossible, with hard work and confidence a lot can be achieved and that there is no age for success. I started pretty late considering that now a days entrepreneurs start on their early 20’s, I started in my late 20’s and I thought I was “late” to having my own business. There is not such thing as being ” late” you can never be late to carving your own path.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Malibu, I love the beach, if I could I would be at the beach all day every day. My favorite spot in Malibu is “Paradise Cove” it is a restaurant right on the beach that has its own private beach area. You can go have food or simply grab drinks, regardless it is always a great time!
I would take them hiking in Laguna Beach, their hikes have the most amazing ocean views, I would also take them horse back riding in the Santa Barbara mountains, they also have the most amazing ocean views.
I would take them to my favorite Italian place in Marina del Rey called Locanda Positano and I would take them for the best margaritas and food to Javier’s at Century City.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Years ago my mother provided me the opportunity to come to Los Angeles to pursue my studies in Fashion Design and Business. After years of working as a full time employee for other companies she supported mentally and emotionally to pursue my dream of having my own business, of having a positive impact in this industry. She has been a big support when obstacles have come my way and a great mentor given that she is a business woman itself.
My husband has been my biggest fan since the day we met. Owning a business means very long hours, no real vacations and no weekends. He understood the importance that my company has in my life and has always been a support when it comes to my busy schedule. Not only that but he has been my rock to get up when things get hard. Starting a business is a lot of falling down and getting back up, but having a partner that supports and admires your work makes it less hard to get back up when things get tricky.
