Hi Julia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The key to my success as a fashion makeup artist lies in a combination of continuous learning and effective networking. Staying updated with industry trends and constantly acquiring new techniques ensures that my work remains fresh and relevant. Networking and building strong relationships with clients and other professionals have opened many doors and allowed me to participate in numerous creative projects. Above all, my passion and dedication to makeup artistry are what truly drive my success. I believe that a deep love for what you do is essential, as it keeps you motivated and constantly striving to improve. My commitment to excellence and my willingness to go the extra mile for my clients have been crucial in establishing my reputation in the industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is defined by a deep passion for fashion and an unwavering commitment to excellence. What sets me apart is my unique blend of artistic talent, skills, and extensive experience in the fashion industry, I started working in fashion as a model more than 20 years ago and my modeling experience still helps me a lot. I’m specialized in fashion makeup, working with a diverse range of brands and on numerous high-profile photoshoots. My work has been featured in over 150 international fashion magazines, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and Marie Claire.

One of the highlights of my career is my role as makeup artist for various fashion campaigns, lookbooks, fashion films, commercials, and runway shows. I’ve had the privilege of working with celebrities and prestigious brands, which has allowed me to showcase my versatility and creativity. I also have great experience teaching professional makeup artistry, sharing my knowledge and passion with other makeup artists.

Getting to where I am today was not easy. The fashion industry is highly competitive, and I love it, but obviously faced numerous challenges along the way. Building strong relationships with clients and industry professionals played a crucial role in my success, as it opened doors to exciting collaborations and opportunities.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. I’ve learned the importance of adaptability, and staying true to my artistic vision. I’ve also realized the power of networking and the impact of a strong online presence in today’s digital age.

What I want the world to know about me is that I am deeply committed to creating art that elevates fashion. My work is about more than just applying makeup; it’s about crafting a visual narrative that complements and enhances the fashion story being told. I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of makeup artistry, experimenting with new techniques, and contributing to the ever-evolving world of fashion. My journey is one of creativity, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of artistic excellence in the realm of fashion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were visiting, I would definitely take them to Hermosa Beach, which is one of the most relaxing spots in Los Angeles for me. The beautiful coastline, laid-back atmosphere, and vibrant local community make it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the best of California’s beach culture. Besides the beach, I would also take them to explore some of the local cafes and restaurants, which offer a delightful array of cuisines and a perfect ambiance for catching up. Additionally, a stroll down the Hermosa Beach Pier during sunset provides stunning views and a memorable experience. For a touch of culture, we could visit nearby art galleries and boutiques that showcase the creativity and diversity of the local arts scene.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my great friend and fashion stylist, Anna Stepanova. Her unwavering support, insightful advice, and incredible talent have been instrumental in my journey. Anna has always been there to encourage and inspire me. Her keen eye for fashion and impeccable styling have complemented my makeup artistry perfectly, and together, we have created some truly remarkable work. Anna’s friendship has been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for her presence in my life.
