We had the good fortune of connecting with Riley Bartlett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Riley, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Raw, unadulterated authenticity is the backbone of my day to day. While this is only the beginning of my journey with a creative lifestyle/endeavors, the one thing I will always be able to lean on is my passion for artistic expression through clothing and design. Authenticity is connection, a quality people will always crave to be around. I wholeheartedly believe this is what drives people to humble success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always had a hard time nailing down exactly what I “do”. It’s easier to express what excites and drives me. From a young age, vintage fashion has always been an inherent Part of who I am. Piecing unique items together to create a cohesive mode of daily expression is where I started. Whether it be hand sewing outfits for my dolls, or reworking vintage clothing for events, I knew this is where my flow state would reside. Slowly this caught the eyes of others, and allowed me to start creatively directing wardrobes for projects and brands. Since getting my first sewing machine, building pieces from scratch has opened up an entirely new avenue of my work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Pasadena, we’re going to hike Eaton Canyon in Altadena and take a cold dip! After hitting Car Artisan for a matcha we’re going to Remainders (a fabric and craft resale store) to get some supplies to make looks for that night. After window shopping at AMT Vintage for inspiration, we’re grabbing a sandwich & bottle of orange wine at The Heights Deli & Bottle Shop. Then bringing it back to my porch to sip on while I whip out some cool looks for the play that night at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga. We get wine and dinner at Wife & The Somm, and make our way to Topanga Canyon!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be as far developed in my creative passions if it weren’t for my best friends I’ve had alongside me the last six years. With each of them fueled by their own authenticity and artistic avenues, being surrounded by that energy pushes me everyday to dive deeper into what I love. My future successes will be dedicated to the roots I grew with those humans.
