We had the good fortune of connecting with Technodrome1 Takun Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Technodrome1, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I think being an artist in general is a huge risk , a risk to ones financial stability, a risk to ones ego and well being , a risk that you bet everything you have and will be on your talent and ability to connect with people through your passion and artistic powers. A risk to put yourself out there into the world out of the comfort of your studio to be loved or hated or ignored. for me making art isn’t a choice , I have to do it , its my therapy and my love so there doesn’t seem to be a risk the more I do it , but I know its always there and thats what makes it exciting.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is my love, I created my own style out of necessity and desperation early on, I needed to find a way to stand out and I found that through my expression of colors in my works. I can’t say how it came about because it wasn’t instant, it took many years of failure and depression , I almost failed art school ! and I def almost failed LCD class ( light color design ) ha !

ive found im personally motivated by failure or disapproval because ive always known I had to be an artist , since a child I couldn’t stop drawing and painting , to in my later years in school being rejected by teachers or grading systems although painful really made it apparent I had to innovate or die ,

pressure is the best ingredient for change or growth or whatever is needed to be great. once I had my style I had new challenges, the established “galleries’ and people that say what Is or isn’t cool was just like art school all over again ,and they didn’t understand what I was doing , they dont know how to categorize it at the time so they didn’t except it either, I had a new hurtle to jump or walk around , and that forced me to find my own way to show and sell my works,
The internet was the key to going around the powers that be and getting my work to the people . its funny to me that ive been told digital art and the like are not ” fine art” several times by galleries and collectors and we are now in the age of social media advertisement and nft art being purchased by the same collectors for vast sums of money , It made me realize what I was doing with my digital art portraits might have been ahead of its time , I want people to know that just because one or many doors close in your face with no regard for your or your feelings , many more will open up with time , with hard work , with perseverance , and a belief in your self ! follow your heart and inspirations, there is always another way !

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
hmmm, I am usually solo most of the time so this is a hypothetical question/answer
I do have some works. hanging in a local cafe on 820 Washington ave Brooklyn ( most high ) that I would def stop by to get a coffee and some good vibes, I am also a Gardner and ive combined both jobs there , so we could look at the beautiful plants for sale there as well as my work and head t the Brooklyn museum right down the street or the botanical gardens next door.
that in itself would, be a day but im def a walker so a nice walk after a meal in any of the wonderful local restaurants in that part of Brooklyn would be an ideal day event , Brooklyn ny itself is always like a movie esp for visitors so id let the city guide us to where ever the energy is best

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I realize that nothing great can be done alone , everyone needs help , id like to dedicate this section to people that have tried to help me in anyway along the way, there are many to name but my friend Misha Tyutyunik sent this interview my way and has always tried to put me in a position to progress wether I realized it at the time or not , so id like to. let him know I appreciate him greatly , and to say thank you for this
