We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashly Olivas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashly, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Putting My Happiness and Being Ashly First
What do I mean by that? Since having kids, I lost myself in the roles of being a stay-at-home mom and wife. I struggled with pretty severe postpartum depression after the birth of each of my three boys and constantly felt like I was in survival mode. I didn’t have many friends, and I wasn’t doing what I loved. I was just going through the motions.
When I decided to work for myself, it allowed my creativity to flow, helped me make an income for my family, and gave me the opportunity to socialize with wonderful people. It honestly made me proud of myself—proud of Ashly. It was something just for me, which, in turn, made me happier and a better mom for my kids. It also showed them the value of independence and what it takes to run a business. I’m so thankful I took that leap of faith and believed in myself again.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a mini pancake caterer! 🙂 I cater any type of event and bring my cart where I make the pancakes on site. You and your guests get to choose your toppings and drizzles. Everything is totally customizable which makes my service one of a kind. We cater to you!
I just celebrated my one year anniversary. There have been lots of trial and error moments, but overall I have been very fortunate to have been able to cater so many amazing clients and events. I have learned a long the way that there will always be people trying to bring you down or not support what you do, but always stay true to yourself. Stay authentic and the rest will follow.
I want the world to know that my business is built off of love. I absolutely love what I do. I love how my creative side flourishes, how I can make people smile, and most importantly how much fun I have doing it. I’m not out here worried about the money, but more so creating a legacy. I will always be forever grateful for those that book me and trust me to deliver at their event.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Rancho Cucamonga so we have lots of fun places and yummy spots to eat.
I would definitely check out Victoria Gardens and stop by the farmers market to support local businesses. Top Golf is always fun and great atmosphere! Haven city Market not only has such great food, but also fun events that happen weekly! So I would definitely check what going on that week! I would have lunch at one of our many beautiful parks. Ontario Mills, bowling, the options are honestly endless!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course, I have to shout out my wonderful husband and family. Without their help, love, and support, I definitely wouldn’t have the amazing business I have today.
I’d also love to shout out Warrior for Children, an organization that helps children navigate through trauma. They gave me a chance when I was first starting out and trusted that my skills would help their event and bring smiles!
A big thank you to the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce, especially Heather! She always believes in me and my business. Their nonstop support and warm welcomes every time I see them help make my business thrive!
