Meet Oliver Aull

We had the good fortune of connecting with Oliver Aull and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oliver, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor in being successful in the social media industry is having a strong mindset to do what you love. I faced hurdles that made me more determined to make it work. It’s crucial not to get discouraged by others and stay true to yourself. Just be authentic, and you’ll build a genuine relationship with your followers and those interested in learning more about you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create masculine-looking makeup content to encourage people to try makeup regardless of their gender and sexualtity. Men who are into makeup mostly try to create feminine looks, while I try to focus on enhancing masculine features. In essence I want to show that everyone should care less about other peoples opinions and focus on what makes them happy.
My journey started with making TikToks, and I’ve gone through a few niche changes. Initially, my POVs were successful but had a sad tone, so I shifted to more uplifting content because I want to inspire.
It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve faced challenges like getting no views, being mass-reported, and even dealing with a biased interview where my name was used unfairly. Despite these hurdles, I’ve kept improving my video skills and found ways to improve my content while strenghtening the connection with my followers to have a more positive comment section.
What sets me apart is my determination to break norms, and my passion for encouraging others to live authentically. I never delete comments written against me. I want people to see everything authentically. Especially with men using makeup, there will be critical voices, and I don’t want to set unrealistic expectations for anyone trying it.
My biggest lesson is to do what makes me happy. I don’t let other peoples opinions hold me back. Life is too short not to embrace the beauty in it, even when it’s tough. At the end of my life I want to be happy about it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend from Germany were visiting LA for the first time, I’d make sure to show him a range of experiences to truly show him what LA has to offer. First off, I would take him through different neighborhoods, from DTLA to Bel-Air. We would explore Chinatown for some authentic Chinese food and head to Little Tokyo for ramen.
We would also explore all of LA’s coastline. A drive along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) would take us to beautiful beaches from Laguna to Malibu, where we’d spend time surfing but also experiencing the famous Santa Monica Pier with the end of Route 66. Venice Beach is a must-see for its boardwalk and unique souvenir shops.
For food, I would introduce him to different grocery stores to show him the differences between Europe and the US. I would love to see his reaction to Erewhon. Also I would show him American fast food chains which are not available in Germany. Dining at Forma, one of my favorite spots in Santa Monica, would offer an authentic Italian experience, while Urth Caffe in downtown provides a European-style café vibe. We would also go to an classic American Diner like Mels, explore speakeasy bars, and catch some small shows at The Viper Room for the diverse LA experience.
In terms of nightlife, we would explore West Hollywood (WeHo) with my friends to experience its dynamic scene. The Hollywood Boulevard is another must-visit, where we’d check out the stars and visit an arcade for a bit of fun.
Also I’d take him hiking on the Runyon Canyon and visiting Griffith Park and the Griffith Observatory for some breathtaking views. We’d also explore The Getty Center and the Natural History Museum since he has an interest in science and culture.
This mix of activities would show him the diversity of activities LA has to offer, from its beaches and nightlife to its diverse neighborhoods and cultural landmarks. Truly a city to fall in love with.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a big shoutout to my mom. She’s always believed in me and trusted me with everything I do. The way I think and approach life is all thanks to how she raised me. Her support has been everything to me. She even supported me with my decision to move to another country so I can pursue my carrer as a content creator.
