We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzie Bella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzie, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Have realistic expectations. I disagree 100000%. I’ve always thought BIG.. and dreamed even BIGGER.. and have believed in myself delusionaly and it has only been to my benefit. I get off on proving people wrong and the look of “I told you so”. The only person ever holding you back is YOU, It will never happen if you don’t believe it will

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This is FLESH’s modus operandi:

We are the catalysts, the instigators, the trouble makers and unapologetically so.
We tell our stories with ferocious excitement, regaling in every detail as we tell you our tales. We tell you not to scare you, but to reveal the veil behind the demons that hide in your sleep, we sleep with one eye open- facing them, feeding our truth seeking beasts.
We will tell you. We will show you. Others shy away, but we are too brave to not take the challenge head on, with head strong, shaking hips and locking lips with the monsters that hide in your head.
We rip into them and show you them instead. Visually heavy, mentally hungry, sanity questionably, beautifully undeniably, honesty undoubtedly.
The term avant-garde spreads a devilish grin across your face as it makes you feel better about what and who we are. Because we are fearless, rude, unfiltered, raw, colorful, bold, honest and beautiful. We are the artists of FLESH.

by the way, I put all of my photography under the name The Perfect Liar… because being a petite little blonde who is somewhat easy on the eyes… has only been to my detriment. Hence the alias..

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take Gina to Paris! Oh how in love with Paris I am…. I was living there for at least 4 1/2 years- but came back because my dad’s cancer came back unfortunately… and then the world fell apart with covid- then he passed… but it’s time for me to go back and the first day of Paris fashion week always collides with my birthday! (February 26th!) I would take her everywhere from Le Marais, to Republique, Avenue Montagne (Champs Elysees isn’t where the real fashion ateliers and houses are… that’s Avenue Montagne… and to Les Suites…. my magical fantasyland… a specifically and beautifully curated shop filled only with couture!) And of course The Louvre it would be blasphemous not to! Or to the Van Gough museum and the Dali exhibit, and the Arc de Triumph, but at night… we would make all of Paris ours. First thing I’d make sure we have our navigo’s set and teach her how we do the metro.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dad. Hands down. Although he never understood my art… or really supported it per se… he was always always there for me until he took his last breath. He’s my hero. So many barriers he’s broken, challenges overcome, and with brilliant success and respect from everyone. I only hope to be an iota of the human he is. Artistically.. Alejandro Jodorovky, and when I went to Paris- specifically just to find him… as my dad called me crazy and said it was impossible- not only I did find him…. I presented my mock book for FLESH, my publication that I have been working on to bring to life- but it was like I met myself as an 87 year old man (that’s how old he was when we first met), and have kept in touch and worked together. We understood each other in a way no one else can or has. I play to lose… and so does Jodo

Other: I know that if you google “Jazzie Bella”- Jesus I feel disgusted I just even wrote that… but there are different videos that pop up. some good some funny and some downright wrong. But hey- I’m like caviar… an acquired taste. You either love me or hate me, and that’s actually something I like about myself. You definitely have an opinion after a “Jazzie Bella experience” as my friends lovingly say. Xx
