Meet Harut Sassounian | Founder of a charity

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harut Sassounian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harut, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I founded a charity 35 years ago to help deliver humanitarian aid to millions of people in need after a devastating earthquake.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am very proud that by delivering hundreds of millions of medicines to patients in Armenia, I have helped save thousands of lives.
I am the only one out of 10 million Armenians worldwide who can say that I have delivered over one billion dollars of humanitarian aid to Armenia in 35 years.
It needed long hours of work, dedicated to save lives, teamwork, coordination, making arrangements in the receiving country, and perseverance in the face of many obstacles.
The lesson I have learned, no matter what challenges I faced, I needed to solve the problems and keep going without giving up and falling into despair.
I love my job. I love helping people in need.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Disneyland, the beach in Santa Monica, Hollywood, etc.
I would take them to Carousel restaurant in Glendale for an excellent Middle Eastern meal. I would take them to museums, the Music Center .
We would go to a lecture and a banquet.
We would meet with a lot of interesting people to exchange views and socialize.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My assistant, Nouritza Abujamra.
