We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Dawn Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Dawn, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My ultimate professional goal is to minister and disciple the masses. God has revealed to me that I can utilize my educational experience along with His Word to reach and guide people. A primary focus of my ministry will be addressing mental illness, a topic often overlooked in spiritual discussions. There is a taboo surrounding the equating of mental illness with demonic possession, which can perpetuate stigma and lead people to feel categorized as “possessed” or “demonic.” Instead, I aim to provide knowledge and understanding, helping individuals recognize that mental health issues can be addressed through a biblical lens without the negative connotations.

I aspire to speak in group settings across the country, helping people understand how to navigate their mental health while drawing from biblical teachings. Additionally, I envision a world where more marriages thrive. I believe that a significant aspect of this is encouraging individuals to work on themselves and discover their purpose before seeking a partner. Too many people feel lost in their lives, uncertain of their calling or mission, which can lead to cycles of loneliness or divorce—outcomes that do not align with the Kingdom agenda.

By the end of my career, I hope to have made a meaningful impact on individuals and families, helping them find fulfillment and purpose in their lives and relationships. Bringing more light to the world, lives to Christ by creating more disciples.

Throughout my journey, I have often felt that I was not inherently a creative person. However, my professional experiences have driven me to pursue deeper engagement in life. This path has not always been easy, but it was essential for me to recognize that I am not destined to merely exist, pay bills, and ultimately pass away. The lessons I have learned along the way have taught me that working harder does not necessarily equate to working smarter, and working smarter does not always mean ease. It is vital that we do not dedicate our lives solely to the businesses of others. While it is perfectly acceptable to work for other businesses, it is equally important to invest in ourselves. We must pour energy into our passions and interests, whether that involves nurturing relationships, pursuing creative projects, or engaging in activities like drawing, writing, or solving puzzles.

These pursuits not only foster our creativity but also help us connect with our inner child. This concept of the inner child does not imply any past trauma; rather, it encourages us to embrace a childlike sense of wonder and curiosity. Maintaining this perspective can contribute to a more vibrant and fulfilling life, ultimately enhancing our overall well-being and longevity.

With this perspective in mind, I want the world to understand that it is entirely possible to maintain a job while also nurturing your creativity, regardless of where you are in life. As I have matured, I have discovered a wealth of creative abilities within myself that I had previously overlooked. I encourage everyone to explore and cultivate their creative potential.

I have successfully merged my creativity with my professionalism, and this synthesis has become the foundation of what I aspire to achieve in my life’s work. My prayer is that we all tap into our creativity many times that creativity is the conduit to generational wealth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week, I would curate an exciting and memorable itinerary filled with activities that blend nature, culture, and delicious food.

**Day 1: Calabasas Hike**
We would kick off the trip with a hike at the Calabasas Steps. This hidden gem features 375 steps, and I often challenge myself to climb them seven times. It’s a fantastic way to connect with God, pray, and catch up on any sermons, podcasts, or books I’ve been reading.

**Day 2: Dining and Jazz**
That evening, we would dine at Vibrato in Bel-Air, an amazing restaurant that offers live jazz music. It’s a perfect setting to enjoy good food and great company.

**Day 3: Hollywood Exploration**
On Monday, I would take my friend to Hollywood to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame and hike the scenic trails. The views from the top are breathtaking, and we can enjoy some tourist attractions along the way.

**Day 4: Venice Beach and The Grove**
On Tuesday, we could explore Venice Beach, where we can enjoy various restaurants and experience the vibrant local culture. Afterward, we would visit The Grove, an outdoor shopping mall with excellent dining options and a great atmosphere for people-watching.

**Day 5: Small Group and Bible Study**
On Wednesday, I host a small group where we gather for a Bible study and share a meal together. It’s a spiritually fulfilling experience, and everyone leaves nourished both emotionally and physically.

**Day 6: Gym or Beach Day**
Thursday typically involves a workout at Equinox, which is an incredible fitness experience. Alternatively, we could head to one of my favorite beaches, such as Hermosa Beach or Zuma Beach, for some relaxation.

**Day 7: Support Local Artists**
On Friday, we would attend local film screenings of movies by emerging writers and filmmakers. It’s a fun way to support local artists and discover hidden gems before they hit the big screen. That evening, we would begin observing the Sabbath, which means we rest and refrain from work. I usually spend this time playing games with my family, doing Bible study, and praying—focusing on activities that do not produce stress.

**Note:** I no longer drink, don’t smoke, listen to secular music or curse, so our activities will revolve around wholesome and enriching experiences.

Additionally, at any given time during the week, we could opt for a staycation. The Catalina Islands offer a fantastic escape, and there are also amazing food trucks to explore. For sports enthusiasts, we can check out memorabilia related to Kobe Bryant, which adds an exciting cultural touch to our trip.

**Saturday: Preparation for the Week**
On Saturday, I dedicate time to listening to sermons, doing devotions, reading books, and engaging in praise and worship to prepare for the week ahead. I often still work out on Saturdays, starting with a session at Calabasas or Equinox, depending on how I feel.
