Meet Jocelyn Jonaneth | Artist, Actress, Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jocelyn Jonaneth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jocelyn, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
First and foremost, my greatest inspiration is God. He is the most divine creator of this amazing gift we call life! Out of all his creations, I’m most inspired by soulfulness, romanticism, the ocean, the stars and the sky.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an artist of all trades and I believe that life itself is art. From the way you wake up in the morning, to what you eat, to how you drink your coffee, to what you wear, and what you listen to, everything is an art form. If you live your life like it were a precious piece of art, or an inspirational movie, then naturally the experience of your world will be a beautiful, exciting, and adventurous journey! It’s from this place that I live and most excitedly, create art. Whether through a fictional character on stage or conveying an emotion in a landscape painting, I believe that art is beauty and beauty is about being true to your story and authenticity, while opening up your heart and celebrating other’s when they do the same.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is so fun to think of! I’m about to do this exact thing. First, a visit to Los Angeles is not complete without the following top three destinations:
#1 Malibu: We would start our day having our coffee from our oceanview balcony at the iconic Malibu Beach Inn. Thereafter we would walk over to have breakfast at Malibu Farm Cafe. Of course we would order the Swedish pancakes! Then we would spend the day taking film photos of the seagulls soaring down the coast. After too much sun, we would pack up and take a beautiful drive up the coast in our convertible to have dinner at Geoffrey’s in Malibu.
#2 Beverly Hills/West Hollywood: We would start off the day at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood and have tea on the terrace overlooking a view of downtown. Then after laying out on the rooftop pool, we would head to lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where we would walk around taking photos in all the iconic spots that everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Prince Harry himself have a history of being frequented. After a day of sightseeing and shopping, we would end our night with live jazz at the Hotel Bel Air.
#3 DTLA: I’m talking deep Santee Alley! Every trip to Los Angeles must include this, if only this. Deep in Santee Alley is where you can find the most authentic, most delicious, Mexican food of all time! It truly rivals the city of Mexico. The experience is also humbling and exciting. It’s a beautiful slice of life, where you can watch some of the greatest hardworking people hustling alongside their families, eager to sell you on great deals on everything ranging from food, to fashion and textiles, and all sorts of interesting knick knacks!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
#1. I will never be able to shoutout my #1 supporter of all time enough… God. It’s has always been God. Especially – in the darkest of hours, the moments of deepest despair, filled completely with uncertainty and loneliness, when I lost sense of direction and lost hope, He has been there for me guiding me in His light and love. I will forever be grateful, praising His name and the incredible ways He has showed his greatness, generosity, and overall presence in my life. When I finally asked and was ready to receive, He made himself clearly present in my life.
#2. There is my family: My parents, Nicanor and Francisca, my brother Andrew and grandmother Martha. God gave me such a wonderful, humble, deeply loving family that has shaped the woman I am today. The trials and tribulations that came with being an undocumented immigrant family unit cultivated a bond that is based on pure authenticity and the value of integrity. I grew from the hardship and obstacles that came with being “undocumented” by my family’s side and will always be humbled by their love, authenticity, and the joy I was blessed to experience from my mom’s best love language; homemade Mexican cooking.
#3. When I became fully focused on becoming the highest version of myself, and cultivated my capacity for unconditional love, I began pouring my heart into my dreams of being an artist, and just then God rewarded me by attracting to me my best friend and husband to be, Peter Lee Johnson. He is only second to God in the cheerleader department. Peter is my rock, and the most caring, compassionate, passionate, and kindest soul on earth. As a legendary music producer/violinist, Peter is just as inspirational to me, as he is supportive of all my artistic dreams and business endeavors.
#4. Last, but definitely not least, my mentor Howard Fine at the Howard Fine Acting Studio. Howard has worked with me for years to train me to not just to be an incredibly trained and professional actress, but most importantly, all of the years of training in his studio have cultivated in me and taught me the most important acting lesson of all time – a strong sense of empathy for every other human being in the world.
