We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyson Crookmind and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyson, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As youth, I had never truly given much thought as to what I wanted to do or be career wise. While I was incarcerated, however, I had nothing but time to be still and think. I prayed, meditated and asked the most-high to reveal to me my true path and direction. And here I Am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my authenticity, my unique journey, my resiliency, my cinematic set of life experiences and the gift of being able to make sense of and verbalize It all. Also, my yearning to discover truths about myself in order to be the best version of myself so that I could be of better service to the world. I’m most proud about my relationship with the Most-High and warrior spirit I’ve been afforded to carry out this mission of spreading love, truth and enlightenment. I am where I am today as a professional, I believe, is due to me loving and trusting in God with all of my heart and energy. Also by remaining grounded and always seeking out the lesson in hardships and tough times versus feeling as though I’m a victim of some sort… It’s not an easy approach but most definitely worth it while navigating through one’s life. Some Lessons I’ve learned along way are to “seek solutions when faced with disadvantages” and “it’s better to walk alone than to follow a crowd that’s going in the wrong direction.” I would like the world to know that being Authentic is priceless and invaluable. Self understanding and Love is very key. Without Knowledge of thyself and Self love it is impossible to pay it (love & respect) forward or spread it to others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place we would go is to the beach. California has very beautiful beaches and bodies of water that are both historical and amazing. From there we would go to one of many produce store’s to try out and eat some of the many seeded fruits and vegetables that are indigenous to the Americas such as avocados, corn, watermelon, jackfruit, coconut, cacao etc. Restaurants to visit would be: Ruby’s Bakery Inglewood, Alma’s Place, Planet Health Compton and Stevie’s on Pico. Then we would most definitely have to go visit both Mount Wilson Observatory and Griffith Park Observatory to checkout and peer into outer space and marvel at some of the celestial bodies of work that the most-high has put perfectly into place and position. Lastly we would go to Beverly Hills to walk around, site see and check some of the amazing stores and establishments there. The area is always buzzing and full of life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shout out to God (the creator of the heavens and earth), and every single person I’ve encountered throughout my life thus far. I’ve learned very valuable lessons from them all. Either what to do or what not to do; how to be or how not to be.
