Meet Ariel Lowell

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Lowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Right now I would have to say that the most important factor behind my success is my disbelief in competition. The success of my brand has everything to do with who I am as a person, the skills that I have learned, the energy that I bring to the treatment room, the mindfulness and awareness of my clients and their experience, and the intention in every detail that encompasses Bloom Sugaring. Sure there are other sugaristas, gorgeous spas, mindful estheticians, and fabulous technique all over the world, There is greatness in every direction you look. If I compared my greatness to other’s greatness, then that would mean it has the potential to be less or more than. I believe that we all have our own story, and we attract those that are meant for us. And because of that, I’d rather look up to and connect with other great individuals, and stand together in our greatness, than see them as better, worse, or a threat. We are all meant to be successful and all deserve to be great.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What’s so interesting is that throughout my entire career, everything has happened for a reason. During difficult times, I often say “I’m so excited to look back on this and reflect” because I know that life challenges come in waves. The top of a mountain is always the bottom of another, right? The way it all started was that sugaring found me. My first sugaring job fell into my lap during my first appointment at a salon right after I graduated from esthetician school. 4.5 years after a very steady work experience, things plummeted when this company was looking to move and expand. Things truly get uncomfortable when the universe is ready for you to level up, and at that time they really did. In the midst of stress and anxiety, a space popped up and I decided last minute to open my own sugaring business. Overnight I built a website and set up shop with 0 expectations. Soon enough, I was booked, busy, and so happy to be on my own.
It wasn’t until later that I got to look back and say, “wow, so all of that happened so this could happen, and thank goodness it did!” And realistically, that is life. A series of challenging experiences that lead to the next best thing, and the next best thing, and the next best thing. And of course there have been many experiences since then, which was 5 years ago, that have made me feel deeply uncomfortable, yet lead to the next best thing. And of course, I then, again, got to look back and say “ohhhh that’s what was happening.”
In life, I only see myself leveling up. If I believe I am destined for greatness could there ever be any other way? So every challenging moment is a message to me that something is brewing and I am always ready for it to be great. Is it ever easy? never. But I find that with time, my favorite way to grow is organically and in flow.
What sets me apart as well as what makes me proud and excited is the true authentic connection I have with my clientele. I love that my job feels like an extension of my life and going to work is a joy. I absolutely love my studio, she’s gorgeous, and it feels like home when I am there. I have come to a space in my life where I no longer feel I have something to prove. I absolutely love what I do, I am consistently trying to become a better person, I do not believe any person is better or worse than I, and I thrive in a space of equality, love and respect. To be able to float harmoniously this way in my career is an absolute blessing and I’m grateful for the freedom that owning my own business has brought to my life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To start the day, we would hit a gorgeous yoga class at Love Yoga. Then run across the street to make unique flower bouquets and grab a delicious coffee from Flower Boy Project. Then after that we would meander down Rose Ave. to stop at Anima Mundi to check out and buy some herbal tinctures and goodies, and head a few doors down to Vin on Rose to pick out a yummy bottle of wine. Then we’d head to Abbott Kinney for a yummy breakfast at Butcher’s Daughter. The breakfast pizza would be my choice, with a spritz of some sort. Then we’d probably shmy around Abbott Kinney and journey into some shops. We’d then make our way to the beach in Ocean Park, have a cute moment there while sipping on our yummy wine we grabbed earlier. And of course as we finish up at the beach we are ready for a bite so we head to Dudley Market for some delicious fresh seafood and vibes. Now we’re ready for a massage, so we head to NOW massage in ocean park for an epic relaxing experience. For dinner we head to buzzing Scopa on Washington for some delicious apps and gluten free pasta!! We finish the evening with dessert at Sinner’s and Saints, obviously.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d have to give this shoutout to my parents. I truly want to be them when I grow up. They as a couple lead with love, passion, drive, courage, and curiosity. The possibilities are endless in their world and they have achieved so much by being yes people. Not only do they own gyms, work in dentistry, and lead a 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher training, but they are heavily recognized in their fields and have worked incredibly hard in such an inspirational way together that they just naturally stand out. They surround themselves with wonderful people and experiences, and play hard just as much as they work hard. They have taught me that in order to get what you want, you just have to jump with both feet, be dedicated and everything will fall into place. They have always supported me on my path and have encouraged me to do what feels best. And because of that, I have been able to move through life with feelings of authentic love and compassion, and an absence of judgement or strain. To see them treat me, their employees, their peers, and friends with such kindness, love and respect and still be as successful as they are both in and out of the work space, proves to me that a life filled with positive energy is the best life to live.
