Meet Kendall Rhode

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Rhode and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendall, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
The people in my life make me happy.

The people I have known since I was born. The people I have met growing into an adult. The friends and family of the people I know.

Surrounding myself with uplifting, insightful and caring people have made me extra happy during the greatest moments, and have comforted me during life’s tougher, sadder moments.

I feel incredibly grateful.

I’ve always been the “digital diary” keeper for my friends, taking photos on my phone or on my digital camera, documenting our memories through the years. In 2020, there was a large shift from photo to video consumption on social media, largely due to the popularity of TikTok during the pandemic.

Then in 2021, my friends started to get married. It was at these wedding events, that as the digital diary keeper, my focus switched from capturing still photos to capturing videos. I would capture everything – filming the glam portion of the day, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception, all the way until the after party!

I would compile and edit all the videos taken the night before and make a recap video for the bride and groom the next day. I started making so many for my friends, that friends of friends started to ask me to make videos for them as well!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Clips by Kendall is in its startup stage. As I grow the business, I am starting to distinguish what sets me apart from other event content creators. I love including all the beautiful details (florals, signage, venue, etc.) in videos, but what makes a video really capture the essence of an event is including clips of the people there. I feel like “the people” is a theme for me in every answer, but it’s true. When you look back at the event recap videos, seeing the people smiling, dancing, laughing, chatting, hugging, sparks that genuine human connection we are often seeking in the digital age. Many of the videos I capture are big life events, engagements, showers, weddings, birthdays etc. and when looking back at the videos, it’s not just the details people want to see, but also the people who were there to celebrate – this is the true magic of events.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Los Angeles! I am biased to the west side so here are a couple of activities and spots that have a special place in my heart!

Activity Recommendations:
– Hike Temescal and get lunch in the Palisades Village at Cafe Vida
– Pick up Bay Cities and go the beach! Then get afternoon drinks at The Venice Whaler
– Walk on Montana from 26th street to the beach and back – You can get a great work out in and you can shop along the way.
– Shop the Brentwood Country Mart and get lunch at Reddi-Chick or Frida
– Watch sports at Big Dean’s
– Get drinks and some snacks at Esthers Wine Shop & Bar

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I said, the people in my life are what makes me the happiest, so it’s fitting that a very important group in my life pushed me to start Clips by Kendall.

My elementary and highschool friends, some of whom I have known for 20+ years, were the ones who pushed me to start the business. My friend, Sophia, sent me an article, that I had already read and brushed aside, about Wedding Content Creators, Accompanied with the article was a text saying, “you should do something similar to this!” – It was in a group chat that the rest of my friends jumped in joining her in encouragement. The push and excitement from my friends forced me to consider the question, “why not?”
