We had the good fortune of connecting with Lala Bazar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lala, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always loved the idea of owning a business that I could call my own. I love all things creative and arts, and through owning a business I’ve always found an outlet for my ideas. My first company was an urban customized jewelry line. I loved sourcing new pieces and creating new jewelry based off demand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since finishing graduate school with my MBA, being an entrepreneur is what has always intrigued me the most. While working in corporate America, I found my strong suit to be social media and digital marketing. It took me a while to find my professional identity while working for larger companies. I’ve learned that the best way to profit off of yourself is to just be yourself. The hard part with that is being comfortable with yourself, putting yourself out there, not dimming your light, and staying consistent. I’m currently been working on a podcast and YouTube Channel called GlowUp Habits of a Procrastinator that’ll focus on the evolution of becoming exactly who you think you’re suppose to be and the journey to staying on that path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to Santa Monica pier. We would walk around the area and do some shopping, have some drinks and lunch. I would take her to the last bookstore in DTLA. Next, I would take her to Perch for dinner with a view. Lastly, I’d find her a bar or club that plays Afrobeats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
While working my first big girl job I read the book “The 7 Decisions” by Andy Andrews, and it completely changed my mindset and my life. At this time, I was working at a job where I was really unhappy and I knew I had to make a change as soon as possible. I started to plan out exactly what I wanted for myself. That book changed my complete outlook on life. My mom and dad have always supported my crazy ideas 100% and that’s been a big driving factor in my positive mindset.
