We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Madaus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephen, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
This is a great question considering I never imagined myself ever having a career in Hair Loss. Life is a journey and at times it will take us down different paths to find your calling. I had my own struggle of losing over 70% of my hair 8 years ago. I know the frustration people are feeling when it comes to trying to find resources to help with their hair loss. Generally, our first line of defense gives us hopeless answers with very little compassion. Then we are forced to jump down the Hair Loss Google Rabbit Hole (talk about losing your hair even more!). It’s my mission to help others fill that void by bridging the gap of their research with education specific to their Alopecia. My end goal in my career is to change the Industry, and mentor Image Professionals who have a passion to help their clients with hair loss. The more that we can educate and train Image Professionals on how to better serve their clients- the bigger positive impact we can make for the Alopecia community!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I changed my entire career to helping others with Hair Loss. It’s not like I woke up one day and decided to build a career in hair loss. The opportunity came naturally because I truly wanted to help fill the void of the lack of education and compassion within the industry. Learning an entirely new career with a huge responsibility of helping others when they felt their lowest was intimidating. My mentor always reminded me…. “Just remember, you know more than they do”. This gave me confidence before each consultation before really thriving in my career. Knowing I was making a difference in people’s lives was my driving factor through all the challenges. Celebrating a client’s success or even just a sense of relief being educated in a consult was so gratifying. It truly recharged my batteries to keep going in my career!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a California boy at heart and absolutely love the beach life. My week with my best friend would consist of the beach, Mexican food, and margaritas. It sounds so simple, but when you have paradise in your backyard, there is so much to be grateful for.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Carly Klein who is the Founder of National Hair Loss is my Hero! She saw my passion for wanting to make a difference in helping others with hair loss. She gave me the opportunity to be directly mentored under her building a career in Hair Loss. Carly is a fearless leader in the Hair Loss Industry who always strives to serve others.
