We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Vision Mafia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elena, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
For me, balance is the most important element of my life. I’ve come to realize that an imbalance between work and rest, discipline and laziness, solitude and social interaction leads to a sense of unhappiness, and negatively impacts both my physical and mental well-being. For me, balance is the key to happiness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Currently, I am focused on developing my digital agency, creating websites, designs, and photography. I am incredibly passionate about art and find it to be a great outlet for myself. I enjoy working with creative individuals and love how our combined energies transform into results, into art. I relish immersing myself in the world of creativity, fully understanding its rules and norms. However, living and playing by the rules seems too boring to me, so I embrace chaos. I stay ahead of trends and continuously push boundaries, introducing new twists and turns. I enjoy doing things that might be initially off-putting because I know it’s temporary. I sense that I am creating ‘before the trend,’ which can make it appear unattractive or misunderstood by the general public.

I see beauty in what others may find ugly. I understand that beauty, like trends, is fluid and temporary. It would be easier to conform to societal rules, but that doesn’t bring me joy. I live to do what I love; I enjoy being a punk and a visionary. Vision Mafia is the quintessence of my love for the world, fashion, design, people, and complete freedom of expression.

Challenges are always present, and that’s the beauty of life. Life is nonlinear, and this knowledge helps me stay positive, along with my daily routine of habits and tasks, and maintaining balance.

Of course, I would like the world to know something about me, but overall, if that never happens, it’s not important. What matters is that I am already happy and joyful simply for living this life, for doing what I love, and for being able to bring joy or new thoughts to others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I absolutely love Rockefeller Park, Battery Park, and the waterfront in downtown Manhattan. We would definitely relax on the grass there and ride longboards along the water, feeling the wind in our hair.

New York is a city where the incompatible comes together; it’s a city of contrasts. So, with markers in hand, we’d head to Canal Street to have some Chinese noodles and leave a few tags.

I’m also a big fan of driving, so we’d definitely take a drive along the highways with views of the city at night and make a stop at the Brooklyn waterfront.

I have a new hobby—I enjoy cooking—so we’d definitely go to a grocery store, return with a bag full of ingredients, and spend time in my kitchen cooking and discussing everything under the sun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am very grateful to the people who anger me and say things like, ‘You’ll never succeed, stop wasting your time.’ I appreciate everyone who tries to bring me down to their level, as it fuels my determination to prove them wrong. This constructive anger has taught me to use it productively. Instead of letting it lead me to confrontations, I channel it into accomplishing my tasks three times more effectively.
