We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariña Diaz Gallego and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariña, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
In my 10 years as a fashion designer, several habits have been crucial to my success. First and foremost, I believe in maintaining a strong sense of curiosity and openness to new ideas. The fashion industry is constantly evolving, and staying updated with trends and emerging technologies has allowed me to remain innovative and relevant.

Another important habit is my commitment to continuous learning. I always seek opportunities to expand my skills and knowledge.

Effective time management is also key. Balancing multiple projects and deadlines requires careful planning and organization. I prioritize tasks, set realistic goals, and use project management tools to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Finally, building strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers has been essential. Networking and maintaining open, collaborative communication have not only helped me to achieve my design goals but also fostered a supportive professional environment.

Overall, these habits—curiosity, continuous learning, effective time management, and strong relationships—have been instrumental in my journey as a designer and contributed significantly to my success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art in fashion design is characterized by a seamless blend of high-street sensibilities and high fashion elegance. My experience with Zara allowed me to master the art of creating commercially successful collections that appealed to a broad audience. This experience instilled in me a deep understanding of market trends and the importance of balancing trend-driven designs with accessibility and quality.

What sets me apart is my ability to integrate this practical background with my current role as a lead Fashion designer in a high fashion american brand, Cult Gaia.
Here, I focus on crafting pieces that are not only innovative and artistically driven but also embody luxury and exclusivity. The transition from a fast fashion environment to high fashion has been exhilarating, as it allows me to explore more intricate and refined design elements while pushing creative boundaries.
