We had the good fortune of connecting with Yu Vitor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yu, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I am sure it was because pursuing art was a moment of “freedom.
It is the only place where you can create what you want to create and share it with others, without anyone telling you what to do.
Like a pure child.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is my background. I think it’s this unique and slightly different family environment.
I’m particularly proud of my ongoing practice of Chinese martial arts.
It is a challenging practice, but I believe it shaped me into the person I am today. It gave me a lot of confidence.
I’m really excited about the release of my new album, which is coming out in October. I’d love for you to check it out. lol
I mix all the language that I can speak. (English & Japanese & Portuguese ) I would be dope. name of the album is (Keep going with the flow) If you search for YuVitor, you’ll find it.
I’m just enjoying what I’m doing at the moment.
It wasn’t easy because while everyone else was playing and having fun, I was just looking ahead, studying, and practicing. But it was fun because I felt like I was walking through life on my own.
What I want to convey to the world through my acting, music, and brand is to enjoy life to the fullest, do what you love, and although life is sometimes tough, have fun and stay positive in the midst of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to the beach in Santa Monica first lol.
It’s where I lived when I first came to the U.S., so I have a lot of memories there.
For food, I would go to Toshizushi in Torrance.
I think it would be great to go hiking to the Hollywood sign, also check out a movie at the Chinese Theater.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to start by thanking my family for their ongoing support.
I think my family did a great job raising me.
My dad was Japanese and my mom was Brazilian, so I grew up in two very different cultures.
My father didn’t speak much Portuguese, and my mother didn’t speak much Japanese. So, from a young age, I was the one who had to bridge the communication gap.
I can’t imagine what it was like before I was born. lol
My father was like an old Japanese man, usually kind, but very stoic and straight-laced.
My mother was a very cheerful person who loved to party. She always told me, “You have to enjoy life!”
I am very grateful for the environment that I had. I learned from my father to be stoic about my dreams, to never slack off in my efforts, and to go straight on my own path. I learned from my mother to value the people around me, to value myself, and to enjoy life with love. I am very grateful to both of them.
