We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Fitzpatrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When I first dove into kitchen and bath design, I quickly learned that there’s so much more to it than just choosing cabinets and tiles. It’s not just about making things look good—there’s an intricate balance between form, function, and how these spaces fit into our daily lives. People often don’t realize how emotionally involved kitchen and bath design can be. These spaces are deeply personal—they’re where we start and end our days, where we cook meals for loved ones, and where we have quiet moments to ourselves. When I work with clients, I notice how attached they are to certain aspects of their home. It’s not just about picking out countertops; it’s about creating spaces that feel like home.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Laura Fitzpatrick Design Inc, my kitchen and bath design business is not just a job—it’s a personal passion that allows me to transform spaces and, in many ways, people’s lives. What truly sets me apart is the intimate, hands-on approach I take with every client. I don’t just design kitchens and bathrooms; I create spaces that feel like home, deeply tuned to the needs, routines, and dreams of the people who will live in them.
Design is personal to me because I understand the importance of these spaces. The kitchen is where families connect, where meals are shared, and memories are made. The bathroom is often a sanctuary, a place to unwind and recharge. I pour my heart into making sure each design reflects not just functionality, but a sense of comfort and beauty that feels uniquely “you.”
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Every project is a journey that I take alongside them, and seeing their joy when the space is completed—when it exceeds their expectations—makes everything worth it. Those moments are why I do what I do.
What excites me the most is that no two projects are ever the same. Each home, each client, has a story, and I get to be part of that story by crafting spaces that enhance their daily lives. Whether it’s finding the perfect layout for a small kitchen or creating a luxurious, spa-like bath, I’m energized by the challenge of making sure the space is not just beautiful, but truly theirs.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have friends or family visiting from out of town, I love showing them some of my favorite local spots. The beach is always at the top of the list—there’s something about the ocean that’s instantly calming. I also take them to the Santa Monica Pier, where the arcade is a hit, no matter your age! And, of course, no visit is complete without a trip to The Getty, where the stunning art collections and breathtaking views offer the perfect blend of culture and beauty. Paco’s Tacos Cantina is an absolute must. For some sweet treats Gingers Ice-cream and Sinners & Saints Desserts. They both have options for anyone’s diet.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The lessons I’ve learned, and the confidence I’ve gained, have come not just from my own efforts but from the guidance of those who believed in me. In their support, I found not only direction but also the courage to pursue my dreams. Tom Adams, Chris Harvey and Marie Letko have been monumental in making all this happen. I’m also fortunate to have a mentor Siavash Fashi who has pushed me to move past my comfort zone, to question my assumptions, and to commit fully to the pursuit of excellence. In the moments of doubt or complacency, his unwavering belief in my ability often reignites my motivation. I can not forget Alice my Boston Terrier. She keeps me on my toes and is up on all the latest trends!
