We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesly Arrañaga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Taking risks has been a crucial part of my journey, shaping both my life and career. I believe that without embracing risk, i wouldn’t be where i am today. Taking risks opens up opportunities and possibilities that wouldn’t exists otherwise. its essential to step out of my comfort zone, as you never know how things might turn out if you don’t take that leap.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a nail artist who draws inspiration from my childhood and cultural background, using my work to tell stories that evoke a sense of nostalgia. My journey has been shaped by trial and error; i’ve quit jobs that didn’t fulfill me, often without a clear plan b, trusting that it would all work out eventually. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of finding my own personal style. I take pride in transforming a passion Ive cherished since childhood into a fulfilling career. It’s incredibly rewarding to create art that reflects experiences many of us can relate to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is kinda hard because i like to stay home lol but in no particular order.. food first: milpa grille( birria bfast burrito with a iced vanilla latte with oatmilk) fresh cheese burger from lowboy, no onions or tomatos, gotta get a side of fries with garlic aioli. Dama in dtla, basically order the whole menu because everything is so good, el salsabor for pupusas. kazunori for some hand rolls. ‘Ai pono cafe for hawaiian food in costa mesa, Mama lu’s for chinese food. Tacos from the taco truck on cesar chavez ave and rowan ave. dan sung sa for korean food or buy some arrachera preparada from gemsco and bbq at my house!

places: have a picnic at Everett Triangle park, go to laguna beach to go swimming for the day, go hiking to a waterfall, go to el mercadito or the north hollywood indoor swapmeet

drinking: lowboy, 4100 bar, broken shelter, bar flores, or la cha cha cha.

last but not least go to palm springs and stay at the ace hotel!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicated this shoutout to my parents. Their constant support and encouragement have shaped who i am and made my journey possible. They have always reminded us that work isn’t just about money or security; its about doing what we love and finding joy in our passions. They taught me that I don’t have to stick to just one thing, and that exploring different paths is part of the journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me! Also my sisters; Charline, Susy and Camila, life would suck without them!
