We had the good fortune of connecting with Lundyn Majstorovic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lundyn, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Ever since I started having kids, this has been the most constant question in my heart. What is my impact on my children? Is every decision I make, business-related or not, impacting my kids in one way or another? I think the short answer to that is, yes, most definitely. However, the most important thing I’ve done as a parent is the business decision I made to start my own business and mold how I wanted it to look so that I could still stay home, be a present mom, while still building something for myself.
What should our readers know about your business?
I graduated with a BA in History with two little ones, moved from Idaho to California for my husband’s career, started working as an administrative assistant, and realized two things:
1. It wasn’t realistic for me to continue on to get my Masters and become an Archivist as I’d wished.
2. I didn’t want to miss a single moment of my kids growing up – so working for someone else became a hard no.
I decided maybe copywriting was my route and so I ventured onto social media to start promoting myself. Little did I know that the connections I made, the groups I joined online would all lead me to a more creative side. As I took courses to understand social media and how to make myself someone people would want to hire, I realized I more liked the creative and strategic side of social media than I did copywriting. I also realized I was much better at it than copywriting, haha.
So I switched gears and started diving in to social media management, social media strategizing, and social media mentoring.
During COVID, my business really took off! I gained so many clients within a few months, and it was time to start hiring help. The challenge became: clients wanted me to be EVERYTHING when it came to social media – marketing all wrapped up in a bow. I had to learn to niche-down on what I was best at and refer out for things I couldn’t call myself an expert in.
I have now found my sweet-spot and only focus on Instagram. No Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in the South Bay, LA so Manhattan Beach would be my first stop! I love the vibes, the restaurants, the strand, the pier, and the boutiques up and down Manhattan Beach Blvd. Slay and Nick’s are two of our favorites, but Love & Salt and MB Post are a close second favorite when it comes to food and drinks! And when it comes to coffee shops, Caffe Luxxe is our go-to!
Besides the beautiful drive and horse-back riding throughout Palos Verdes, Venice Beach where I’d venture outside of South bay. I’m a no-go for Muscle Beach, but you can find my family and I at Venice Canals, Abbott Kinney, or Rose Ave at least a few times a month.
Some of our favorite spots on Rose Ave include: Chulita, Vin on Rose, Venice Beach Wines, The Rose Venice.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There have been a few people along the way that have been stepping stones instrumental to my success and to where I am today.
First would be, the obvious, my husband for encouraging me to go for it from the beginning, while still having two little ones at home.
Second, Chantal Firouz. She gave me the first look into what social media management was. She also referred me to my first ever client, Neekan Rivera. Neekan I am forever grateful for, as she gave me my first chance and would often refer me to others. 🙂
Next I have to thank Inna Prokopenko. Her encouragement, trust, and referrals, gave me the tools to grow and succeed.
