We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniela Islas Bajo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniela, how do you think about risk?
Well it’s really funny because all in my live always consist in taking risks.

Since I was a child I was brought up to always try to lead a path where I would not have to take any risks, one where I could always have peace and tranquility but the truth is that for me that meant leading a boring life.

I think the moment I convinced myself that this was what I wanted to do I knew that part of taking the risk to live drawing and creating was to find myself with the adversity of a difficult path and to continue to keep yourself in peace and tranquility in order to keep walking.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud of what drawing has brought to my life, I like the idea of thinking that everything good or bad that has happened in my life has been the result of creating, feeling and speaking through shapes.

No doubt it has not been easy, and like me there are many artists who struggle every day with this, I believe it is a daily decision to stand firm on your convictions and that these are hand in hand with your dreams.

My path is still beginning and I still have a lot to learn because it is definitely a very enriching world that I am just starting to walk without feeling tired or afraid. The motivation and desire to commit myself to what I love has been what has taken me further than I would have thought one day.

I would like to share with the world everything about me, I would like to be able to give myself to it through my drawings and leave something more

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

This is a very curious question because for a long time I have thought that in my city there are not many fun things to do but if I had my best friends here definitely the first place we would go would be MUDO.

We would hang out with suri and Ochoa at their spot, talk, eat and just hang out quite nicely.

I would take him to soak some time on the beach, draw on a sunny day to

maybe get together the next day at pato’s house to draw and watch short animations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh, this might be a bit long but I would like to dedicate this shoutout to all the people I love and have loved in my life.

each person that has come into my life has left me a very strong teaching, from my grandfather who used to draw me since I was a little girl so that I could play, to the artists that inspire me and that I admire.

But without a doubt I would like to dedicate a space to my friends, since they are an important part of my story, each and every one has left something in me that motivates me, inspires me and makes me want to keep growing to become as good as them.

If I could be more specific I would like to say with much love and affection a huge thank you to Artsykars, yambi, looserkid, bochoman, niko, Sara, Andrea, milk, suri among other names.

I would not have grown and could not continue to grow without all that I have learned from each one of you.
