Meet Sharon Hernandez | Balloon Artist & Dancer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharon Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharon, why did you pursue a creative career?
In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe, I, like many others, found myself without a job. I was living my dream as a dancer at the Disneyland Resort, doing what I love most—dancing! With a background in the arts, I have always had a deep appreciation for creativity in all its forms. Faced with uncertainty about the future, I made a conscious decision not to wait idly for things to change. Instead, I ventured into the world of balloon art, inspired by YouTube tutorials and a wealth of ideas from Pinterest.
I launched a new business on Instagram, named “From Sharon Balloons.” Transitioning to balloon decoration felt almost instinctual for someone with my artistic background. However, it was certainly not without its challenges! Little did I know that I would be designing, painting, and creating art with balloons, props, backdrops, and various specialty elements for event decor. I truly believe that having an artistic eye is essential for running a successful balloon decorating business, and I’m thrilled to embrace this new creative journey!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Running a balloon decorating business has certainly come with its challenges, especially as a one-woman team. However, one of the things I am most proud of is the professionalism we bring to every project. My business is a true reflection of myself, and I take that responsibility seriously. From the moment a client reaches out to us until the last detail of their event is completed, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional experience. We are attentive to our clients and honored to be a part of their special days.
It has taken a tremendous amount of hard work to get to where we are today. We have invested time in honing our craft and have collaborated with successful entrepreneurs to learn from their experiences. Overcoming challenges hasn’t always been easy, but I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my family and friends, who have stood by me during tough times.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned many valuable lessons. One of the most important is to not worry about problems that haven’t happened yet. In event planning, anything can occur, from unexpected weather changes to having just 30 minutes to set up at a venue. It’s easy to stress about every possible scenario, but based on my experience, those imagined challenges rarely come to fruition!
What I want the world to know about my brand is that we are 100% dedicated to what we do. Whether you know us or are just discovering us, I want to share one of my mottos: “We always do more!” Why wouldn’t we, when our business means so much to us? It has opened up opportunities I never would have imagined. I take immense pride in our work and how we approach it, and I hope our clients can always see that passion in everything we create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting the area, I would make sure they have the best time ever! Our adventure would definitely start with a visit to In-N-Out Burger—you can never go wrong with their delicious burgers and fries!
Next, I’d whisk them away on a weekend trip to Palm Springs, one of my absolute favorite spots. We’d check out the gorgeous pink sand hotels and soak in their stunning aesthetics. A quick 30-minute drive to Joshua Tree would be on the agenda, where we could marvel at the incredible desert landscape and take some unforgettable photos under the vast sky.
Once we’re back in LA, we’d dive into all the educational and fun experiences the city has to offer. A visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) or the California Science Center would be a must! After soaking up some culture, we’d head over to the Fashion District for some shopping and for some delicious food from local vendors.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the thrill of a Dodgers baseball game or a Lakers game—there’s nothing like the excitement of live sports in LA! And for some classic fun, we’d definitely spend a day at Disneyland or Universal Studios, experiencing the magic of the rides and attractions.
To wrap up our week, we’d explore the vibrant nightlife in Downtown LA, maybe hitting up a rooftop bar for stunning skyline views or catching a live show at the Hollywood Bowl. This week-long itinerary would be packed with unforgettable memories, delicious food, and plenty of fun experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible mentor, Sandra Corr. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without her unwavering support and guidance. Throughout every step of my journey, she has been a constant presence, always cheering me on and believing in me. Her encouragement and love have been invaluable, and I often find myself reflecting on the countless ways she has influenced my life.
Sandra has generously shared her wisdom and insights, always ready to offer advice and lend a helping hand. I could never fully repay her for the love and dedication she pours into my life. She has not only shaped my career but has also inspired me to be the best version of myself. I am forever grateful for her and the profound impact she has had on my journey.
