Where are you from and how did your background and upbringing impact who you are today?


Through our work we have had the good fortune of seeing firsthand how success comes in every shape, size, color, faith, and orientation. More importantly we’ve learned that success is often the result of people embracing their unique backgrounds and so we’ve asked the community to tell us about their background and how it has impacted where they are today.

I was born in the vibrant neighborhood of Washington Heights, NYC. When I was 5 years old we moved to Puerto Rico, where the rich island-life became a part of me. Summers were spent in the Dominican Republic with my father, adding yet another layer to my cultural tapestry. I’m from the UAE and grew up during the 90s, witnessing the incredible transformation of my country from desert villages to a world-class nation. Our leadership instilled in us the belief that nothing is impossible, which inspired me to pursue my dream of filmmaking in Los Angeles. My upbringing, steeped in oral storytelling and deep-rooted cultural beliefs in the supernatural, has profoundly influenced the kind of films I create. I was born in Germany and spent my early childhood there before moving to Japan, where I lived until I graduated from high school. This multicultural upbringing gave me a unique perspective on life and the human experience.
