Meet Brittney Marie Darling

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Marie Darling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney Marie Darling, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been my faith. Moving from Chicago Illinois to Los Angeles to pursue my career took a huge leap of faith. I understood I had a calling on my life from an early age, having the courage to pursue my ambitions came naturally for me. As I’ve never believed in limits to my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up I watched my father pursue and succeed at being an entrepreneur. My entire life he’s always encouraged and supported me in finding my way and embracing my differences as a person, a creative and in my entrepreneurial endeavors. I began my beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog 10 years ago, at the time I was one of the very few plus sized bloggers the industry had seen. So ultimately I had to build a new table for myself and others like me that wanted to enter the world of content creation. In a short while I began collaborating with magazines as an influencer quickly becoming an It girl for Cosmopolitan Magazine, Vogue, Teen Vogue and many more. I took to instagram to work with brands such as Kylie cosmetics, Versace, Covergirl, Pixi Beauty and other prestigious cosmetic companies and fashion houses. As my career began to evolve so did my dreams and visions for my brand and business ideas. I started to pursue PR, branding and marketing for celebrity clientele which taught me so much about the industry and what it takes to make it to the next level. Along the way I realized I wanted to turn my many passions into businesses and share what I love to do in my free time with the world. One of my passions is Afternoon Tea, Ive been exploring Tea Houses & the Art of Taking Tea for many years since attending my first afternoon tea experience for my 20th Birthday at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. Over the last 2 years I have been studying the origin of tea, tea pairings & proper Afternoon Tea etiquette and Now I’m certified from The British School of Excellence and will officially be attending in person In London next year for extended training. Being a Tea Sommelier and etiquette consultant has also lead me to start my own Tea Business called Darling SocieTea a community of tea lovers worldwide who gather to collaborate and attend Afternoon tea. Soon to branch into selling loose leaf tea sourced from all over the world, including tea goods, accessories for daily tea and specialty teas, decor and more. Although the plans ahead are tight lipped with the team involved, it’s one of the most thrilling career moves I have ahead. I’m also a soon to be author. Next year 2 of my books will be published, it’s been a while in the making and I can’t wait to see them come to life and into the homes of people to enjoy! One of the biggest challenges of being a creative and visionary is the desire to produce right away out of excitement and in this season I took the approach of sourcing, getting educated and learning the ins and outs of all of my pursuits. As of recent I began my blog and podcast The Disciple Wears Prada, a Christian based Podcast and blog that will dive into the biblical principles of living and loving like Jesus. Explaining the bases of what that looks like in today’s society. We’ll dive into trending topics and discussions and of course we’ll talk all things fashion!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA has some of my favorite places to visit. The Beverly Hills Hotel is my home away from home, I absolutely adore the Pink Palace. The Peninsula Hotel has one my favorite afternoon tea experiences. Rose & Blanc Tea room is a hidden gem that I love. And of course Carrera cafe on Melrose, It’s such a cute cafe, I love to take friends from out of town there for lunch. Rodeo drive is a dream, I frequent Chanel and follow my shopping with macrons from Laduree or Bottega Louie for lunch in West Hollywood, Laduree has my favorite Marie Antoinette Tea blend. Spring and summer in LA is beautiful I love to take a stroll at The Huntington library Rose Garden. Or spend an afternoon with friends at Nobu Malibu or a quick bite at Malibu farms.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister Kayla has made a huge impact in my life & career. Not only is she my sister, she’s my business partner in most of my endeavors since we were Teen Vogue It Girls. She’s a huge part of my Content creation and Blog!
My manager Roxanne Smith has been a source of encouragement and comfort since I moved to Los Angeles. Her wisdom and guidance has helped me throughout the years!
My incredible Church family and My Pastors Robert & Steph Herbert of ‘All People’s Church’ in San Diego has helped me to grow in my faith and pursue all that God has for me in this season of my life! Our mission is to get rocked, get real and give it away! In everything I do I apply the love that God blesses me with!
