We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruna Mejias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bruna, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
That’s a very interesting question and often asked. For me personally the way I see it and feel is that I never had another choice really, it’s like this desire, calling, passion inside of me that I simply couldn’t ignore and also never wanted to. I’ve known what I was meant to be since I was 6 years old and I find myself very lucky for being able to realize it very young. So I’m a true believer that if you are really meant to do it, if you are born an artist, eventually you will recognize it and once you do, after letting go of second guessing yourself and your path or any sort of doubt about it, you will have no other choice but to pursue it because then it’s something stronger than you. It’s just a matter of discovering who you are, trust and be willing to work for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe everyone is unique and we all carry our personal experiences as well as our perspectives and the transformations we go through as we grow and evolve, therefore you are always gonna have something different and special in the way you tell a story to the world. It’s for sure much easier to me and rewarding to dedicate my time and energy into a career and projects that I’m passionate about and that carries a deeper meaning to me, even though of course you are gonna face some obstacles and you will have some days where things seem to be more difficult than others but they are only there for you to grow and over come them. One of the many lessons I’ve learned is that if you can get comfortable with being uncomfortable, seeking it by your own choice and try your best to observe from others experiences with compassion, you are gonna be able to learn a lot from a place of love, so then you can spare yourself from certain situations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them in the morning to the beach in Malibu or Manhattan beach then to watch sunset at the Griffith Observatory and at night to see the Stars on top of Beverly Hills.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m very grateful to God, my angles, the Universe and my family who have always supported me so I could create the life I want for myself and work with what I love. I’m very lucky and I’ve always found gentle souls in my way that are willing to help me and encourage me towards my goals. Sometimes it is a friend, a colleague or someone you just met.
