We had the good fortune of connecting with Diksha Malhotra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diksha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Taking risks is essential for growth—you never truly lose when you take a chance. No matter the outcome, you gain invaluable lessons. For me, moving from Bollywood to Hollywood, crossing continents without connections, was one of the biggest risks I’ve taken. I started as a stranger in a new world, united by a shared passion for art and the entertainment industry. This leap has shaped me in every possible way—changing my life and broadening my perspective. While I remain the same person with the same dreams, I’ve grown by learning about people, places, cultures, and languages. This journey has expanded my horizons and made the world feel smaller, yet filled with even bigger possibilities. I’m now working on the same shows and movies I once watched from the other side of the globe—a truly fulfilling experience.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of who I am—a blend of creativity, cultural heritage, and a passion for storytelling. What sets me apart is how I approach makeup not just as a tool for enhancement, but as a medium for self-expression and transformation. I view every project as an opportunity to tell a story, whether it’s on a film set, in a music video, or during a personal beauty session. My Punjabi roots inspire me deeply, instilling values of family, humility, and hard work, which guide my craft. I strive to create looks that resonate on both a personal and cultural level, blending traditional and contemporary techniques to capture the essence of each individual.
What excites me most is how I continue to grow, experiment, and challenge myself with every new project. I’m proud of how far I’ve come—working across different countries and cultures and building a career that allows me to work with diverse teams and artists. It’s been a journey full of hard work, perseverance, and learning. It wasn’t always easy, especially when starting and facing the challenges of being a makeup artist in new environments. But each challenge has taught me valuable lessons: adaptability, patience, and the importance of staying true to my vision, even when the path seems uncertain.
Overcoming these challenges wasn’t about avoiding failure, but about embracing it as part of the growth process. Every setback became a lesson that propelled me forward, whether it was learning to work in different cultural contexts or refining my skills to stay ahead of trends. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of building relationships—working closely with directors, actors, and my team is crucial for creating the best work. It’s also been essential to remain humble and open to feedback, no matter how experienced I become.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m here to make a difference in how beauty is perceived. My goal is to create a cosmetic brand rooted in authenticity, one that challenges the traditional standards of beauty and encourages people to embrace their true selves. I want my work to inspire others to see beauty in all its forms and to understand that true artistry lies in the stories we tell through our work.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to all the mentors who’ve guided me along the way, the incredible industry professionals who have taught me invaluable lessons, and my family for their unwavering support in helping me get to where I am today—especially my mother, who has been my backbone throughout this journey. A huge thank you to my friends who motivate me and keep me grounded, always reminding me of the bigger picture. Even though I’ve been far from home, the creatives I’ve worked with here in LA have made me feel like I belong, and they’ve helped me navigate this journey. It truly takes a village, and I’m grateful for each and every one of you who’ve been part of my story.
