Meet Krishna Ward | Engineer and Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krishna Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krishna, why did you pursue a creative career?
I spent my entire career in Engineering and did not pursue anything artistic as I was busy making a living and raising kids. I enjoyed the arts vicariously through my children. They took piano lessons for many years and they played in the school band and pursued other artistic opportunities. I bought a piano after my kids graduated from high school and started taking lessons. I’m still taking lessons and play nearly everyday. After my kids graduated from college, I started my acting career in film and TV. That was about 6 years ago and it has been frustrating, satisfying, gratifying, and thrilling – a real rollercoaster of emotion. I would not trade it.
Engineering can sometimes feel rigid with limited opportunities for self expression. I have thoroughly enjoyed my Engineering career but I want to find balance and also bring emotional fulfillment to my life. Having both in my life has created a well-rounded and well balanced life experience.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A few years ago, my area became a sort of hub for film and TV production. I live near Nashville, Birmingham, and Atlanta – the best possible location for the growing industry in the area. I have always wanted to be a performer and it was definitely possible in our area. So I began pursuing opportunities. There is more rejection than wins in this industry. But perseverance is what is necessary in any pursuit. I learned a lot from trial and error and just stayed with it. I have really enjoyed my journey and successes. I don’t dwell on a job I did not get although somedays it is a bit tough. What I would want people to know is that my brand at this point in my life is enjoy this ride. I’m really focused on enjoying where this journey takes me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Huntsville Alabama is a lovely small town and big city. It offers a variety of wonderful experiences. For the science and history enthusiasts, we have the US Space and Rocket Center. Huntsville has a beautiful Botanical Garden and gorgeous Monte Sano State Pak for the nature lovers. Just a short drive away, we have Cathedral Caverns State Park. We have some amazing dining choices here – Blue Plate Café for classic southern food, Cotton Row is upscale dining in a historic downtown building, Yellowhammer brewing has a wonderful selection of European inspired beers. Grille 29 for some excellent seafood and steak. For just hanging out, we have Big Spring International Park with walking trails and plenty of ducks to feed and Lowe Mill ARTS and Entertainment for art galleries, shops, dining, and live music. I really love Huntsville.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family (husband, children, extended family) have all been very supportive of my journey. Professionally, I have received support and encouragement from many people but I want to call out one group of people from HAG Productions. They are Cheyenne Puga, Jimmie Waites, and Emily Eliette. My work with this group of talented young ladies really changed my life for the better.
