We had the good fortune of connecting with Jada Cianne Arriola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jada Cianne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had been a makeup artist for about 7 years and in January of 2022 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. When I heard my diagnosis there wasn’t much thought behind it besides if this disease progresses in fighting my body quickly what is a way I can hold on to my passion of makeup besides only applying it on others. That’s when launching my own makeup brand (Jada Cianne Artistry) came into play. I have always wanted my own makeup line eventually, but this kicked started a fire in creating my makeup empire on the spot. It was as simple as that!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was 15 years old I knew exactly what I wanted to be and that was a makeup artist. Going into this industry was my plan A, B, & C. There was nothing else. I think my stubbornness was an advantage in how I got to be in the field I am today. Being a makeup artist was always the dream and I was going to seek for it in every aspect of life. After highschool I enrolled in Vancouver Film School and took the Makeup for Film & Televisión program. After this one intense year course I went straight into doing photoshoots, working on independent films and doing any makeup job I could find, even when it was completely free/volunteer. I never took no for an answer. What makes me personally proud of my efforts is never giving up on the one thing I wanted most. Still til’ this day I still strive for it! Being a creative you yourself have doubts and get doubts from others, but how I overcame hardship was blocking that all out and focussing on what was going to make me happy. This perseverance has struck a light in creating my own makeup brand as well. I want to be known for never giving up. I want to be known for my artistry worldwide. I also want to be known for making others confident and creating a product that is suitable for all! I think that is the true meaning of riches and success. Not necessarily the income aspect.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Immediately we would go on a food tour! Vancouver has amazing food. I personally think we have many options culturally when it comes to food! My favourite places to go are Nuba, Yolks, The Parlour, Myst/The One, The Spud Shack (oooo poutine), and La Casa Gelato (mmm gelato!) There is so many more I could list.. It goes on and on. Now, Vancouver has amazing views. We are known for our beautiful scenic province. I love driving to Whistler, BC and experiencing all the look out points driving along the Sea To Sky highway. We also have one of the cleanest and fresh water in the world! Drinking from the tap.. NO PROBLEM. Another favourite thing to do here is visit the Rec Room! If you enjoy drinks, food and playing games that is a great time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to all the women in my family who have inspired my makeup line. Especially my sister, Jasmine Arriola who is COO of Jada Cianne Artistry and part owner of her own business called Krue Salon.
