Meet Kevin Flores | Producer/Engineer/Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
If it’s not bringing value to your life, let it go.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I produce music, mainly hip-hop beats. I’m a recording engineer and an author as well. When it comes to music, I just go with what feels right to me. I’m inspired by so many great producers and bands and I know collectively they have influenced my sound over the years. If I had to name one thing that sets me apart, I’d say it’s my ability to communicate with musicians to create certain parts. My main approach to production is to create a solid foundation and building on it with very skilled individuals.
An achievement I’m very proud of and took many years to complete is a book titled “Love Hertz”. A raunchy romantic comedy with a sci-fi twist. My good friend Aaron Mostow and I worked hundreds of hours to bring our crazy idea to life. We released it on Amazon and Audible and even adapted it into a screenplay. The next goal for this story is to see it on TV or on the movie screen!
The drive to stay creative is what keeps me making music and dreaming up the next story. That same drive also comes with its challenges. One of them is balancing my time with what I love doing and for the people I love. My family is my priority, but creating is my therapy. And I never want to lose either.
The main lesson I’ve learned is to live without regrets. That means taking risks and being mindful of your actions, so later in life you won’t have too many “I wish I would have” moments. At the time of this interview in 2024, my single biggest regret is not throwing a thousand dollars at Bitcoin in 2010. I say that half-jokingly :/
The main thing I want people to know is that I appreciate every single person who has ever supported my art, directly or from afar.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
East L.A. for tacos and ceviche, Little Tokyo for sushi and Koreatown for Korean BBQ. I would take them to Venice Beach to see all the weirdos and also Skid Row to show them how all of the city leaders have failed the people. Then maybe the Hollywood sign.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God gets the credit. Especially for giving me parents that have always had my back, a supportive wife and two awesome kids.
