Hi Karlos, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up, I was always drawn to sports. Whether it was on the field, in the gym, or just watching, I loved the energy, competition, and personal growth that athletics provided. I quickly realized that athletic performance is not just about natural talent—it’s about how you train, how you fuel your body, and how you recover. Over time, I saw friends, teammates, and even coaches struggle to reach their goals because they lacked the proper resources, training methods, or mentorship. This sparked a thought: What if I could bridge that gap?
As I became more immersed in the world of sports and fitness, I noticed a recurring pattern: athletes were often underserved when it came to specialized performance training. Many gyms offered general fitness, but few catered to athletes looking to gain an edge in their sport. Youth athletes, in particular, were vulnerable to misinformation, poor training techniques, or cookie-cutter programs that didn’t account for their unique needs.
It was clear to me that there was a void—and I wanted to fill it.
I founded SCV Hitting Lab & Sports Performance with one goal in mind: to help athletes of all ages and skill levels unlock their full potential. Sports performance isn’t just about speed, strength, or endurance—it’s about building confidence, resilience, and a strong foundation that lasts a lifetime. I wanted to create a space where athletes could thrive, where their goals mattered, and where evidence-based training could yield real results.
From day one, I knew I didn’t just want to run a business—I wanted to build a community. Athletes thrive in an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and celebrated. Whether it’s a high school player striving for a scholarship, a weekend warrior training for their next event, or a professional athlete looking to sharpen their game, we focus on meeting people where they are and helping them achieve what they thought was impossible.
The most rewarding part of this journey has been watching the transformations—not just in performance, but in mindset. I’ve seen athletes go from self-doubt to self-belief, from good to great. I’ve seen parents beam with pride as their child crosses milestones they never thought they’d reach. And I’ve felt the immense satisfaction of knowing that this business is about so much more than fitness—it’s about changing lives.
Starting a sports performance business was not just about pursuing my passion—it was about solving a problem and creating opportunities for others. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but every day I’m reminded why I started: because athletes deserve better, and because performance matters both on and off the field.
To any aspiring athlete or business owner, I’ll say this: Believe in what you do. Work with purpose. And never stop striving to be better. That’s how champions are made and that’s the heart of what we do every day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer sport specific sports performance training, nutrition coaching, speed & agility coaching, hitting lessons for baseball & softball, defensive lessons and softball pitching lessons. We offer specialized programs, cutting edge methods, highly qualified and nationally certified trainers and coaches. We take a holistic approach to athletic development which also helps us create an amazing community, I have learned in business to always create a great team, great culture and never give up on your dreams. As a business owner times can get a bit bumpy but you can never beat someone that never gives up. I want the world and our community to know that we are here to create resources to help our young athletes excel in sport and in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, here’s the dream itinerary for the BEST time ever:
Morning:
Start the day with some fresh air and movement! We’d kick things off with a workout at GoTribe Fitness. Perfect for a boost of energy and connection.There’s nothing better than starting the day feeling strong and empowered.
Late Morning:
After class, we will go to a local coffee shop for a coffee and breakfast
Mid Day: We would go for a round of golf. Nothing better than being outdoors and just slowing life down.
Afternoon:
Depending on the mood, we’d add a little adventure or culture! Maybe a trip to LA to go get some good food and enjoy the city.
Evening:
End the day with a Dodger game and cheer on our hometown team.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to take a moment to give a big shoutout to my wife. She’s not only been my biggest cheerleader but also my rock and inspiration. Her support, strength, and belief in me have played such a huge role in helping me build this business and follow my passion. I couldn’t do this without her, and I’m so grateful to have her by my side every step of the way.
