Meet Sebastian Aparicio | Photographer and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sebastian Aparicio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sebastian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business was inspired by the need to process and scan film so much, and with so many of my friends shooting film it felt like a no brainer. I’ve begun processing and scanning film along with selling my prints online and at local shows.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art can be a reflection of my life and day to day. Most of my art is color and “street” photography. I think what sets mine apart is the lack of extra lighting in most situations. The raw moment the shutter was clicked and the image transfer to celluloid. I love traveling by the river bed and capturing nature and animals. Riders on horseback have been an obsession especially, I think being able to see life for its natural beauty is a gift not many can truly see. The ever changing riverbed and life it holds within it is something I’ll never take for granted. At first I wouldn’t have considered it easy. I would say finding what I enjoy to shoot took me a long time. I learned that this medium really does require patience and silence in moments of what feels like utter chaos. Framing a photo and having people say what I should be shooting or trying instead and tuning it out to create what I want to create without judgment was the biggest jump to get over. Now I feel I can do nearly anything I want when it comes to photography.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family who have supported me. I’m thankful for those who doubted me or undermined my ability to create something touching and relatable for Latino people all around.
