Meet Joshua Hoyo Jr | Actor, editor, radio host, producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Hoyo Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
A career in artistic or creative feilds is the only thing that interests me. I’ve had regular jobs but when I was there I felt like I was drowning. In creative fields like production, acting, radio, or graphic novels I feel genuinely awake and alive not like I’m just going the motions of a person but actually being one.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got started in acting when I was 18. I was lucky enough to be connected with an agent who picked me up despite me being extremely green at the time. From that I thought of starting a career in other avenues of film and enternaiment. I trust Kamden and her artistic vision and want to be apart of it in any way I can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m actually from San Diego and at the time of thsi interview split my time living in SD and LA. I’m a really big nerd so if I did take anyone around LA I’d probably take them to a comic shop, get lunch(probably the indian kitchen), and then see a movie. I don’t really go crazy or anything I’m just a guy who likes comics, games, film, and the gym.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say the thing that deserves the most credit towards my decision is my PaPa. He passed away from ALS my freshman year if high-school. He was someone who was indestructible to me and during the worst time of his life he was laughing. He was watching movies and laughing. I want to give others that level of emotion. I want to create stories that take your world away.

The photos of me where done by my amazing friend Micheal Bell, and the concept art for the comic was done by a good friend Rae. The other photos are from a short film I helped produce a couple months ago called Transgressions.
