Meet Emily (MLE) Dang | Singer, Songwriter & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily (MLE) Dang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily (MLE), is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity has been one of the main factors contributing to my success. My listeners, event booking agents, building owners, and fellow artists gravitate towards my genuineness. Many people experience burnout or imposter syndrome if they put on a facade while pursuing this musical journey, but music is a lifelong passion of mine, so navigating my career with that intrinsic motivation has made it a smooth journey and easier to attract an abundance of opportunities. Remaining true to myself and honest with others has resonated with various creatives and earned the respect of numerous individuals I encounter. Keeping it real with my feelings and vulnerability reflects in the music I create and makes it all the more relatable, creating a genuine fan base who appreciates my authentic self.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My purpose is to spread love and light. Having obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and planning to pursue a career in Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy, I aim to help the masses heal whether it is through music or therapy.
It has taken a lot of persistence and networking to get to where I am today in my musical journey. I am an extroverted individual so it is easy for me to make friends and obtain opportunities wherever I go. Mutually supporting other creatives, as well as always showing up and showing out has helped me significantly with gaining respect and getting booked for a multitude of performances. It took many drives from Orange County to Los Angeles, many collaborations in the studio, many hours interacting on the internet, and many posts on social media to reach the consistency and exposure I am at currently. Throughout the past 4 years of my songwriting career, I have accomplished many feats that I am proud of and met numerous individuals that I am grateful for. I have released over 10 songs on all major streaming platforms, performed in 50+ shows, appeared on 4 radio stations, and been interviewed in more than 10 magazines/publications. It was a smooth journey for me because music is my lifelong passion so it flows naturally and I easily attract abundance through pursuing what I love. The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to stay true to myself so I don’t lose myself in this industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting LA, I would take them out for breakfast and mimosas at Met Her at a Bar. For lunch we would go to CAVA and enjoy some Mediterranean Cuisine. Then, we would have dinner at Fat Sal’s for their famous sandwiches and shakes. Finally, we would end it off with dessert at Oakobing for some shaved snow. You also can’t visit California without getting In-N-Out!
For another day of food options, I would start them off with Urth Cafe or Breakfast Republic, then Flavors of Thai for lunch, and finish the night with Tao for dinner as well as clubbing. We could also stop by BobaNJoy for a sweet treat!
For entertainment, I would take them to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures to observe the art of moviemaking, or the Balloon Museum for some interactive exhibits. We could also visit Moonlight Rollerway or LA Live for some roller skating or ice skating! For a more relaxing day, we could check out the scenery at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens or The Getty Villa. For some thrill, we could visit Universal Studios or Six Flags Magic Mountain. Some mature settings for the adults can include a consumption lounge like The Woods WeHo, as well as the LGBTQ Bars in West Hollywood like Rocco’s, Beaches, and Heart, or luxury clubs around Los Angeles like Warwick, Keys, Ballet and PH Day Club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to express my abundant appreciation for my truest friends who consistently dedicate their time and energy to support my endeavors. They are reliable, encouraging, and honest, so I respect their input on my creative decisions and would not have the motivation to be so persistent with performances if they weren’t always in the crowd or on social media cheering me on. Pursuing this journey fulfills my lifelong love for music, but also knowing that I am making a positive impact on the masses and inspiring my friends is what ignites my spark to continue achieving more because now I am not only doing it for myself, but for all those who believe in me. It serves as a reminder that my purpose is bigger than me and I am capable of more than I know, so I should strive to reach wider horizons.
