Meet Mikol Frachey

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikol Frachey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mikol, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
During the last years I’ve always had moment where I wish I could go back in time and tell to my younger self that one day she’ll come true some of her dreams. Honestly, I’ve also realized that if I knew that one day I’ll get all of this, I probably didn’t work as hard as I did. Because it’s not the security of success that makes you get up from bed and pick up the guitar even in the hardest days, it’s the hunger in your stomach of want to do this for the rest of your life.
I’ve learned that it’s necessary to fail a lot of times before making it. Most of all, failure is part of the process.
When I was younger I used to believe that I’ve had to become famous before a certain age or signed a record deal etc. but then I’m learning day by day that everyone has its own process. Someone’s going to make it at 16, others when they get older. There’s also a personal definition of success behind numbers of albums sales, streaming and/or followers. There’s a part of our past that will make sense only when we’ll keep living and keep finding out that what we considered the lowest moments can become the reasons why we’ll write songs. My recent EP “Stories To Tell” come from the honesty of sharing my personal stories with everyone who like to take a moment to listen to it. Stories keep you close to the audience.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a country singer-songwriter from Italy and country music is not popular at all in this country. I’m facing the challenge of making an untypical genre in a foreign language in a country that is not embracing that too much. If not from Beyoncé, in the last year, or Shania Twain and Taylor Swift we don’t have anything country on the radio or on tv. So I’ve always knew I’ve had to leave my family and my hometown and begin my path on the other side of the world as an immigrant. Getting a VISA is very expensive and a hard path but move away is the only option to survive as an artist to have a chance to wake up and do music as a job, do the music you love as a job. I’ve been the first Italian artist to be awarded for country music in the USA, my sophomore album Untypical has reached the 39 position of country music albums in the UK and Rolling Stone UK recently mentioned me but it’s an independent path. I have very nice people who collaborate with me but I’m still an indie artist who has to manage different jobs. I mean nowadays, an artist has to make music, manage social media, book shows, manage emails and merch and so many things during every day. But I’m learning day by day that it’s challenging but it’s worth it. Finding a place where you feel appreciated is the key. It can really change everything waking up and do what you love.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During my times in Los Angeles, I have to admit that my favorite thing to do is going for a walk on a Malibu beach. I love the ocean and I love the peace you can find there after driving in the traffic. Long Beach is a great place to stay! Outback Steakhouse is my fav place to have dinner if you wanna have something fancy like a mimosa and a great filet mignon.
A friend of mine made me discover Creature’s Plant & Coffee in Glendale and I’ve had the best matcha of my life.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, specially my parents and my grandparents, for being on the road with me like and act like a team since I was born. Emanuele from Delma Jag Records who believed in me and in my music recently. All the people I’ve met along the way who have dedicated a single moment for working with me. To all my fans who supported my music and gave me an opportunity to be heard.
