We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Achay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to be the person in charge of where I get myself in life. Having a business that allows me to do something I enjoy, while helping support the lives of my family and I is the minimum I ask of myself. Having my own business allows me to be creative and adventurous with my professional life as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My brand is J Sprays, and I’m an athletic field and logo painter focusing primarily on football. We’ve painted fields and logos for multiple sports and a variety of brands like Nike, Oakley, Coors Light, and more. I started out as a Field Manager for USC, SoFi Stadium, and now the Los Angeles Chargers.

Getting to where I’m at now has taken a ton of work. To be honest, a lot of it was without knowing what direction I was going in and where I even wanted to take it. In my experiences, even if I didn’t know what I was going for, I just keep moving forward and figure it out along the way.

J Sprays started because I began posting videos of the painting process for NFL games throughout the season, playoffs, and even the Super Bowl, as well as other events and sports. Since then, it’s become so much more. The purpose of the brand is to show people the work that is put in for your favorite sports. With that goal, it has also earned paint jobs for top brands, has its own online store, and is working on so much more.

I also have a digital marketing business called Xpansion Digital Marketing that allows businesses to get their brand, products, and services out to their customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friends were to visit the city of LA where I reside, I’d show them every corner of the lively city and its culture. We would start in the heart of Los Angeles, Downtown. I’d show them how parts of the world live in one area. We’d visit China Town, Korea Town and Little El Salvador. We may spend 2 days just taste testing the authentic, holes in the walls of Los Angeles. We would end day 2 on the Hollywood stars looking at all the iconic names forever stamped in the ground. On day 3, we’d explore the iconic view of Dodger Stadium. I’d tell them how the color of the seats represented our state the best: pale yellow for the sun, mustard middle for the sand, amd the blue reserves and top deck seats for the ocean. For day 4, I’d take them to the literal west coast. We’d stroll in Santa Monica and watch the sunset. I’d show them the goth house and the Barbie house off of PCH and follow CA 1 to Malibu and go to the Getty Villa. For the following 5th day, I’d take them to see The Grove and treat them to the farmers market. For the final weekend, I would ask them to hike the Hollywood sign so they can get a panoramic view of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My entire family from my parents, to my partner, sister, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even friends and coworkers have supported me in one way or another. Everyone gets different levels and forms of support, and I’m very fortunate to have had as much as I do. My wife has been more than I could ever ask for, my parents and sister have always been there for me, and so many others.
