We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Klentner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, what do you want your legacy to be?
I would like to be remembered as someone who cared about what came before, and to leave a lasting legacy that my friends and family can be proud of. I would like to be remembered as one of the better builders of my time, and to leave behind some noteworthy builds that people take inspiration from. I also hope to remembered as someone who cares for others and works to get the best out of everyone.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to consider myself a one-stop shop for real estate, or at least that is what I am working towards. I currently have my contractor and my realtors license which allows me to be hands on throughout the whole process of my business. It also allows me to stay in tune as to what’s going on in the real estate market trends-wise etc. so that I can keep up with new designs and apply them to my own builds. There is definitely a lot of information to learn and I am not going to pretend that I have learned even half of it, but like anything just taking it one step at a time and learning slowly. I think I want people to know that I am in it for the legacy and I want to create something special instead of just trying to maximize profitability.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to watch sports game at barneys in west hollywood
I like to hang out at my apartment when im not working lol
Most weekends that I have free I go up to santa barbara where my family is from or try local food spots
Hiking Runyon Canyon
My favorite thing to do is to drive through the hills in the afternoon with the music on and the windows down and look at all the houses
One of the best dinners you can do with friends is KBBQ in K-town. Soju, beer and you have to use your hands so nobody can be on their phones and the food is delicious
I would say driving up the 1 but not anymore

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
None of this would be possible without my family. My father is a builder and aside from raising me also taught me this trade, and is now my biggest investor. My mother is an interior designer so any design sense (which is very little) comes from her. None of what we do as a team would be possible without each individual bringing something to the table. The other person that is instrumental in making this happen is Willie Marquez who is my mentor on site and teaches me something new about building everyday with his 35+ years of experience in hillside construction.
