Meet Alexandra Bernal | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Bernal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a working actress, I intimately understand the rollercoaster of our industry. Every time I’d land an audition for a great role, I’d think, ‘I should really get this professionally taped and coached’—but then I’d look at my bank account and think, ‘Umm!’ Like most actors, I was already stretching my budget with classes, headshots, submission websites—you name it. And let’s be real, in this industry, you never know when your next paycheck is coming.
That’s when the vision for Unlimited Self Tapes crystallized. I wanted to create the studio I always wished existed—a place where actors could walk in and not have to choose between quality and affordability. Having been on the other side of the camera countless times, I knew actors needed a space where they could focus entirely on their performance without stressing about their wallet.
I like to think we’re not just another self-tape studio—we’re that friend who happens to have great equipment, knows their stuff, and genuinely wants to help you nail that audition.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The most beautiful thing about being an artist is that we’re all uniquely ourselves. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in self-doubt when you walk into an audition and see ten other people who match your ‘type.’ But the biggest lesson this journey has taught me is that your uniqueness is your superpower. Coming from a different country, My Colombian heritage, natural warmth, and edgy spirit aren’t just parts of who I am—they’re exactly what’s opened doors for me in this industry.
Every artist knows this path isn’t easy. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, requiring equal parts patience and dedication. What often surprises people is that it’s not just about perfecting your craft—it’s about understanding the business side too. While I’ve invested countless hours in honing my talent, I’ve had to develop my entrepreneurial and marketing skills to build a sustainable career.
Perhaps the most crucial lesson I’ve learned is that mental health isn’t optional—it’s essential. In an industry filled with rejections, constant evaluation, and uncertainty, maintaining your emotional wellbeing is as important as any acting technique.
This industry can be wonderfully crazy, but building a successful career shouldn’t come at the cost of your wellbeing. The magic happens when you can embrace both your artistic journey and your personal growth, keeping yourself creatively fulfilled while staying mentally strong.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in LA after a decade in New York has shown me just how warm and welcoming this city can be. As someone from Bogota, I love that I can speak Spanish with nearly anyone and feel connected to my roots. The city’s embrace of diversity and laid-back attitude makes everyone feel at ease.
What I treasure most about LA is its dog-friendly culture. My pups are welcome practically everywhere, from cafes to stores.
The beach holds a special place in my heart too – the weather reminds me of my tropical homeland, and there’s nothing better than feeling the sand between your toes.
I’m drawn to walkable neighborhoods that remind me of New York. You’ll often find me thrifting in Silver Lake & Echo Park, beaching in Venice, or hanging in Santa Monica, where everything you need is within a few blocks.
The abundance of yoga studios, vegan restaurants and dance spots in LA keeps me energized and always exploring.
Some of my favorite spots include:
– Doomies Next Mex: amazing vegan Mexican spot in Hollywood
– It’s a Wrap Clothing in Burbank: where you can find authentic movie wardrobe pieces for low prices.
– Sqirl cafe in Silverlake: my current coffee place obsession
– The New Last Bookstore’s Valley location is beautiful!
– You’ll always find me at Rolling Greens in Studio City buying plants and cute home decor. Plus they have a beautiful restaurant on the rooftop -next to all the plants!
– For something a little different: Good Dirt LA offers great ceramic classes. My grandfather is a sculptor so I love getting my hands dirty. Plus it’s run by a fellow Colombian!
– And off course for the best hot yoga studio: Valley Hot Yoga. If you like to sweat this is the place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a special shoutout to my coach and mentor, Kaz Santana—because every actor needs that guiding light in their journey. From the moment I arrived in Los Angeles, she welcomed me with open arms. As a fellow Latina making waves in Hollywood, Kaz isn’t just an incredible actress and coach; she’s proof of what’s possible in this industry. She’s built a thriving business while nurturing her craft and lifting others up along the way. Watching her navigate Hollywood with such grace, authenticity, and determination has been truly inspiring. She’s shown me that success doesn’t mean choosing between being a great artist and a savvy entrepreneur—you can be both while staying true to who you are.
