We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, what do you attribute your success to?
For me it would have to be the people that supported my weird ideas when it came to portraits. I have had my fair share of ” No one will think that’s cool” or ” That’s a little out there”. So to have those ( especially my amazing fiancé Ish) support those ideas has played a major part in my story.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to my art I love the word moody. Obviously art changes over time and those things that inspire you sometimes don’t. I want that to reflect in my work. I think people fall into a niche and that gets set in stone. I don’t want that for my own. Now when it comes to where I am professionaly I am self made to that highest power. Minimal schooling, in fact I dropped out and have never regretted it. I have learned from those around me and have sought out the things I didn’t know but kept my interest. A lesson that I feel I had to learn early on was to not let the negatives effect me and how to turn them into motivation to be better. Also with no schooling the business aspect of my work was a challenge in the beginning but like everything else in life I adapted.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Seattle offers tons of unique places to eat and things to do. We would obviously hit up Dino’s pizza and then make our way to their underground bar for a few drinks. That is a first day must. Over the rest of the week we would hike to Franklin Falls and scream at a waterfall or two. Really let go and be in the moment. We would most likely walk the city and shoot around a few parking garages. The city offers some amazing interior spots as well such as the UW library or public library downtown. We would spend our days exploring the shops and restaurants or Capital Hill and our nights enjoying the late night ice cream trips. We would probably finish our week with a meetup. I would gather the creative community ( I already do this monthly) and give creatives from one place an opportunity to creatives with some from another.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have an amazing support system as in friends, family fiancé, even a few professors. I would have to breakdown most of my creativeness comes from the multiple creative communities I have met and made over the last 3 years. I would have to say Ismael Barron ( Fiancé ), Allison Carol , and Jacob Loafman. I’ve been inspired beyond words. Also the countless creatives I have spoken to via Instagram.
