Hi Carla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My journey in starting Fab N Fit by Carla was fueled by my passion for fitness and beauty, specifically aimed at empowering women over 50, a demographic I believe is often overlooked. I wanted to create a platform where I could share personal fitness and beauty tips, demonstrating that age does not determine one’s capabilities or worth. I envisioned Fab N Fit by Carla as a supportive community where women could come together to uplift each other, challenge societal stereotypes, and embrace their age with confidence. My ultimate goal is to inspire change in both self-perception among women and societal views on aging, proving that we can be vibrant and fabulous at any age. This vision continues to drive my commitment to celebrating the beauty of every stage of life.

What Sets Me Apart
One of the key differentiators of Fab N Fit by Carla is the emphasis on authenticity and integrity. I put a high value on myself and my work, and I believe in fair compensation. If I know a company can afford to pay, I stand firm in my worth and expect to be treated with respect. This approach ensures that I am not taken advantage of and that I continue to uphold the values that my brand represents.
Overcoming Challenges
The journey has certainly not been without its challenges. As someone who isn’t naturally tech-savvy, navigating the digital landscape has been a significant hurdle. However, I choose to view these challenges as opportunities to keep my mind active and sharp, especially as I age. This mindset has been instrumental in overcoming the initial intimidation and embracing technology as a vital part of my business.
Lessons Learned
Throughout my journey, I have learned the importance of not comparing myself to others. Every influencer’s path is unique, and we never truly know what others are sacrificing to achieve their success. This realization has helped me focus on living a balanced life, where social media is a tool to connect and inspire, rather than dominate my time.

When planning a memorable visit for my best friend, the goal is to create a week filled with exciting experiences that highlight fitness, culture, and community. This itinerary focuses on supporting local businesses, particularly those owned by Black entrepreneurs, while ensuring plenty of fun along the way. From invigorating workouts to delightful culinary adventures and cultural explorations, every day promises to be packed with vibrant activities that celebrate our community and forge unforgettable memories.

The journey to starting Fab N Fit by Carla was not one I embarked on alone. My daughter, Nayanna Holley, played a pivotal role in inspiring me to share my life and passions with the world. Her unwavering support and belief in my vision gave me the confidence to pursue this dream. Additionally, my dear friend Beverly Preston, founder of Shhh Beauty Secrets, has been a source of inspiration and motivation. Her success and dedication to empowering others encouraged me to create a space where I could similarly uplift and inspire women. Together, these influential women have been instrumental in shaping Fab N Fit by Carla into the empowering platform it is today.
